"They're coming after your doughnuts!" the Kentucky Republican said, referring to the Food and Drug Administration decision to ban trans fats.
Paul added that if the FDA was banning trans fats, the employees of the agency should be forced to get healthy themselves.
"I say we should line every one of them up. I want to see how skinny or how fat the FDA agents are that are making the rules on this," Paul said.

I haven’t eaten mickeyd’s fries in nearly 20 years. Greasy and nasty now. Not worth the calorie or carb expenditure.
Is it really?
The Statists think they want lean Americans. They haven’t thought it all the way through:
“Let me have men about me that are fat,
Sleek-headed men and such as sleep a-nights.
Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look,
He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.”
- Julius Caesar Act 1, scene 2
I need to lose weight but.... I have no will power...
I know there are leftover Doritos...
Here’s a simple, quick way to make a passable doughnut:
I can canned biscuit
Sugar
Cinnamon
Melt some lard of use liquid oil in a (preferable) cast iron skillet—other skillets will work, though. Oil should be about 3/4 inches deep.
Make a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, and set aside.
Get grease in skillet hot, but not smoking.
Take one biscuit and poke a hole in the middle with your finger.
Drop into the hot oil—careful not to splash the hot oil on yourself.
Continue with the rest of the biscuits.
As each biscuit is browned, remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and roll in the cinnamon, sugar mix.
Enjoy while they’re hot!
Health food at it’s best!
Where do you get your nutritional education - government propaganda from the 80s? Why not at least use 21st century propaganda to keep yourself informed?
The hormel lard is heavily processed and just plain nasty. Pure leaf lard is very different. I recommend prairiepridepork.com
That’s a bridge too far.
But hey, unlike Moochelle and the other communists in the nanny state, I believe what you eat and how much should be your decision, and the busybodies should butt out.
” animal fat clogs the arteries”
and whole grains are good for you, I suppose?
What I mean is, I question this “common knowledge”.
"Them's fightin' words, mister!"
I don’t know what is the common knowledge...which is why I rely on a registered dietitian and my cardiologist for advice.
I understand that they are supposed to be experts on this - but how were THEY trained?
We often find out that dietary information that we’ve accepted from these experts is wrong and dangerous.
Mainstream Republicans are just as addicted to power as the Dems are.
I think there are a lot of things Doctors still don't know about the human condition. I've been battling the lipids. I do 5 hours per week aerobic and anaerobic exercise, I follow the Mediterranean diet to the letter (which means virtually no animal fats, sodium or refined sugars in my case) and my numbers are still too high. I just went on Lipitor a couple of weeks ago. I'm just can't be a vegetarian.
That being said, Rand Paul is correct. Labeling is the impoirtant tool for people who want to know what they eat. Beyond that, it's up to people to decide. I just don't want to have to subsidize their health care.
Lets see, abortion until birth, drugs, and sexual deviancy are the only three things the left thinks should be a “right” and is the mark of freedom. Everything else from speech, property rights, gun rights, and now what you eat should be controlled by the big nanny state?
Big Government, Big Business, and Big Labor = Socialism.
