You know, that’s a false argument. The politicians do this all the time - make an activity far worse than it was, institutionalize it, and when people complain, the politicians blame it on the other guy.
Sorry, we’re on to that play.
Heads need to roll, literally.
They’ve shattered their trust with the American people as well.
The US and the UK have several joint defense agreements. Their armed forces are integrated on many levels and officers are swapped for training. They buy and develop weapons systems together. They share a common language, a common culture, a common system of laws and a common system of government. Investment, money and people flow back and forth virtually unfettered.
Moreover, they are founding members of the five eyes. They share intelligence collection and distribution. Given these facts and the ability of the Brits to move freely in the US, what "secrets" would the UK be looking for? Military secrets? Economic secrets? Political secrets? Do you think a "bug" in the oval office would give them more insight into BHO's thought patterns than simply reading the newspapers and talking to other US political leaders? Why would they waste the resources?
Beyond that, there is the tacit five eyes agreement. Have you heard any official complaint from the UK or Canada about US spying? You won't. There is a reason for that.
Heh. Good points.
Reminds me of the middle manager who was given three numbered envelopes by his predecessor, who had found another job. The predecessor told the new middle manager to open each envelope in sequence, whenever he was faced with a leadership crisis in the office.
Sure enough, some time down the road, a crisis emerged, so he opened the first envelope. The note inside said, “Blame the problems on your predecessor”.
That worked, and things were peaceful for a time. But, once again, another crisis emerged in the company, so he opened the second envelop. The note inside said, “Reorganize the Group”.
The Re-Org worked, and things were peaceful for a time.
That worked, and things were peaceful for a time. But, once again, another crisis emerged in the company, so he opened the third envelope. The note inside said, “Make three envelopes.”
It isn’t exactly news that Obama has no love for Europe.
he is a passive aggressive smooth talking destroyer who loves breaking things down, double crossing etc
ok I’ll bite.. which countries are in this five eyes exclusive mutual admiration club
“IIRC, the NSA started spying on our European allies in 2006, while Bush was still POTUS.”
2006? We’ve been spying on anyone and everyone since at least WWI.
He is unfit to perform on the world stage
Don’t blame all Americans, Frau Merkel. Somehow, someway this Kenyan slipped under the radar and was voted in TWICE by mind-numbed robotic fools.
Declare war on America.....Germany will win this one easily.
well there is one HUGE 4th Amendment issue that will be raised in pretrial motions to suppress evidence and DOJ will lose
This drooling fool could f-ck up a steel ball with a soft rubber mallet.
Your right. At my company, there is a lot of UK engineers here working on a common missile compartment. We send a lot engineers to the UK for the same thing.
Blame the idiot for Merkel’s feigned rage damnit!
If the country can survive Obama’s reign, eventually sensible people will look back on this disastrous era and question why the media allowed him to get away with such destructive and incompetent bahavior.
I think they will conclude that the media was corrupt, complicit, and guilty of ideological collusion with like-minded politicians.
Obama really set us up for embarrassment, allowing this to be exposed.
They (the Europeans) HATE us, they really hate us, and its 0bama’s fault.
BTW, Their opinion of Bush has evolved, They all love Bush
what happened to Smart Diplomacy?
********
You gotta give it to the Dems. They and their pals in the media are very good a branding things (e.g., Smart Diplomacy, War on Women, etc). It seems that every objective has a theme and they pound it with disciplined talking points. These people are viciously clever.
Too bad the Republicans have never figured out what they’re up against.
