I agree.

“I am a 65 year old Eagle Scout....”

Congrats! I’m genuinely jealous.

Seems to me, the one guy fits the profile, literally, of the how-the-heck-is-it-standing round rock more so than what I recall as the pledged properly self maintained scout.

Let’s both hope and pray their recent wrong turn on the trail does not lead the Boy Scouts of America to devolve into Scouting for American Boys.

But I’m afraid the guy with the Pie Eating badge in the video could be another strong wind against the once-great teetering rock of an institution:

“A gay leader would not have been so obtuse... nor so obese.”

well if a rock weighing thousands of pounds can be pushed over in 12 seconds it sounds like a safety issue to me

So...your logic is that if it is easy to be destroyed it should be? Do you know Mt Rushmore is unstable as well? Are you going to rush up there and start planting charges to destroy it too?

Please stay home and vandalize your own house and property.

listen jackoff

there is a huge difference between pushing a teetering rock and planting charges on public property

why don’t you crawl back under your rock

I object.
A true conservationist sensibly uses God's bounty.Such as by using farming methods that don't cause the soil to wash downstream or objecting to pouring waste chemicals and trash into the water.A conservationist knows that intelligent hunting is necessary;an enviromentalist demands ending all hunts.
It is the radical environmentalists who demand nothing natural be disturbed and you should let predators eat your pets.

Yea, I can see how painting a rock is the same as a rock on a rock

A rock which has stood there for thousands of years without falling until these morons decided to act manly. I wonder how many beers were involved?

this is a bunch of crap trying to impugn the scouts and y’all should know it

And whatever happened to the Boy Scout's respect for nature and their pledge to leave the outdoors as good as they found it?

Resorting to name-calling? That says all anyone needs to know about your argument.

The rock was not "teetering". It had been sitting in one place for as long as anyone can guess. No one can say how much longer it would have stayed in place.

There are lots of these formations all over the world, some are much larger. If they bother you, stay away from them. The whole reason we have a park service is because some people just can't resist defacing and destroying everything in their path.

That these guys were scout leaders tells you all you need to know about the level the BSA has sunk to.

Thanks for your reply. It took me a moment but then I “got” your meaning of “Scouting for American Boys”. I am afraid that is what the Boy Scout organization will eventually become if they continue down this PC path of liberal homosexual tolerance. I say if the homosexual community wants to enjoy a scouting experience, they can start their own brand of scouting and not infiltrate the “morally straight” organization that has been around for generations.

Yeah, that was my reaction too. So what?

This smells to be of a story cooked up just to embarrass the Boy Scouts. And it doesn’t help that these Scout masters look like a bunch of yahoos.

Honestly, take a deep breath and relax. Your analogy to Mount Rushmore is totally off base.

What these guys did was on the stupid/careless side. But I’ve seen a lot worse stupidity. Was this formation somehow marked as special or keep off? My guess is no. Given this, I think the public flogging their getting is overkill. Pressing charges is beyond the pale.

In the end, I think their biggest “crime” is looking like a bunch of ignorant buffoons.

What they did is indefensible

from stateparks.utah.gov "Journey to this strange and colorful valley, which is unlike any other in Utah. The landscape, covered with sandstone goblins and formations, is often compared to Mars. Explore the geology, and camp among the nooks and gnomes."

This is a state park because of the formations these idiots just destroyed. Fry there asses.

I hope they are arrested!!
Their excuses are asinine and hold no water.
Arrest them, send them to jail, fine them, and kick them out of the scouts!

Mount Rushmore will not last forever. Its stability is questionable, and effort has been expended to track its movement. We could go ahead and destroy it now based on the fact that we don't know how long it will last.

If it isn't yours, don't break it. Why is that concept so hard? If you need a sign telling you not to destroy things in a park, you don't belong there without adult supervision.

Pressing charges is entirely appropriate when a bunch of hoodlums deface public property for their own amusement.

Really? So we should destroy Mount Rushmore, but upsetting a minor rock formation is defacing public property?

Look, I think these guys acted stupidly. But its not criminal—this whole thing is being blown out of proportion.

Dont put words in other people's mouth - its dishonest as well as rude. These jerks used the excuse that the rock looked unstable to justify destroying it. Anyone who takes it upon themselves to destroy a landmark deserves a lifetime ban from public parks and a huge fine.

Its a crime whether you think it ought to be or not.

News Gets Even Worse for Scout Leader Accused of Pushing Over Jurassic-Era Rock Formation
Oct. 21, 2013 9:17am Liz Klimas

The situation seems to have gotten worse for the Boy Scout leader who pushed over a large, ancient rock formation in a state park, evidence of which was filmed in a now-viral video.

Amid speculation that those involved could face felony charges, the man who actually knocked over the “goblin,” or hoodoo rock formation, in Utah’s Goblin Valley State Park is now facing additional scrutiny because he was supposedly disabled in a car accident.
