At a tea party rally in Washington Sunday billed as the Million Vet March, one idiot decided to bring Confederate flag, which was enough for liberals to paint the entire Republican Party as racist.

You know there were black slave owners right?
So? It was still immoral.
So at what should the South have known indicated the Federal Government would cease abridging the Constitution they originally signed on to in good faith?
You know that during the 1960’s many black radicals decided armed revolution was the best course of action too cause the Constitution was being abused.
I know the rebellion is popular in some circles especially among decedents of Confederate veterans, but in most of the country it is not. Since it's a given that the media will cry racism every time they see that flag it's politically suicidal for anyone on our side to use it.
I'm not even a Southerner and I'm not a neo-Confederate, but if there's one thing I can't stomach, it's the GOP's own brand of political correctness (i.e. trying to outdo liberal Democrats at the game of crying "racism").
what flag flew while a war went on out west against Apaches, Crow, you know that war which killed, raped, robbed and moved them off their land, which flag flew on slave ships and which flag flew on Govt buildings during the war between the states? Some can argue the stars and stripes enslaved others and is a sign of oppression, my point is that anyone can get all PC and get all stupid about any issue if they like , it is up to others to just ignore them and call them out as what they are, stupid
The US Constitution & the US flag didn’t do that or promote abuses, men did.
“Why do so many who glorify the Confederate flag downplay the ugliness of slavery Southern states wanted to keep?”
The abolition of slavery was not the motivation of the Union at the outset of the war, in fact, the Union was prepared to guarantee the institution of slavery in perpetuity via the Corwin Admendment.
Really? Have you ever seen someone muscling through the crowd at an accident saying "Let me through, my ancestor was a doctor?"
Why do so many who glorify the Confederate flag downplay the ugliness of slavery Southern states wanted to keep?
Why do people like you keep trying to tell them why they do so instead of asking them? Frankly, people like you are like a wife that expects to be allowed to screw the football team as compensation for her husband not being a virgin when they married.
You can justify it any way you like, but the fact is the North violated the Constitution the South signed up with, and as soon as someone like you can show proof that the North wasn't going to further violate that Constitution, I'll agree the South had no reason to fight.
Did they have specific language in that Constitution that was universally agreed to have been included to get them to swear allegiance to it?
Koala Mc’digeridoo ?
Really ? The presstitute is as fake as it’s story .... Why even post such crap ?
Can’t justify it. PC makes us believe that Americans are the only people on earth who are guilty of slavery and black americans are the only people with slave ancestors in the history of the world. Look back 1000 years... 5000 years... slavery has been there. Hell, I am as white as white can be and I could be a decendant of a slave from 2500BC Egypt..
A Marine should have the right to show some Southern pride. Any Southerner, indeed, should. Just because the left encourages this kind of preciousness around the Confederate battle flag, doesn’t mean we have to go along with them, any more than we have to start calling illegal aliens ‘undocumented migrants’.
And this is coming from someone with no Southern ancestry. I’m the direct descendant of a Union soldier who put his life on his line against the CSA.
My question, too.
Thousands of young men died for that flag. They believed that their cause of States Rights was a true one.
Now, 150 years later, under the tyrant Obama, we are finding out they were right. They were heroes, too.
No, it's not PC - it's history. The Confederate flag flew for the Confederate nation - and that nation came to be because it wanted to hold on to slavery. David Barton is far removed from being a Liberal Democrat, and what he states are facts from the writings of the Democrat Slavers and what they were ready to war over:

The Confederate flag was birthed from the Democrat Party on keeping slavery and cannot be painted any other way. Being it is their flag, we should be shoving into the face of the Democrats, not flying it.
In either case, I am highly suspicious that it really was flown by a Tea Party member; I just can't prove it is a Liberal flying it (though the guy flying it looks like one).
I wonder how many conservatives who say 'I will NOT let the liberals choose my symbols for me' are also the ones drinking the "GOP = red" propaganda because the liberal media TELLS them to refer to Republican areas as "red states"?
If you refer to the southern states that voted against Obama as "red states", you're letting the liberal media choose your symbols for you. Any conservative who does that is in no position to complain about the confederate flag being associated with racism. The liberal media will continue to control the language as long as you let them.
Oh, gawd—you must be reading that moron Dorothy Kearns Goodwin’s books.
I do. My flag is the Texas state flag. I'm not back home yet, but I will be. Still, I fly it where I am with Pride and thankfulness to my Lord and Savior!
The Southern states comprise the homes of Christian Conservatives now; of course we have a lot to be proud of!
But we must stand for what is right and the Biblical foundation this country was founded on - and rid its evils. And the Confederate flag is stained with the evil of slavery, it was birthed that way and cannot get away from its founding. It is a stumbling block for anyone who flys it.
The Democratic and Republican parties of today have almost nothing in common with the Democratic and Republican parties of 150 years ago. What does Barack Obama have in common with J.C. Calhoun, and what did Ronald Reagan have in common with John Brown?
The fact that the Democratic party was once the party of the Confederacy is about as relevant to today's political discussion as the fact that the Democratic party of the 19th century, from Thomas Jefferson to Grover Cleveland, was the party of states' rights and anti-Federalism.
Following this warped line of reasoning, I guess we shouldn't fly the American flag either, since by today's PC standards, our nation was also "stained" with the alleged evil of denying the vote to black people and to women.
...and the Democrats are still the Party of slavers - even worse; but you have justified the Democrat Slaver Party by what you have stated. It's not PC, it's the Confederate flag's history - how it was birthed into existence in slavery; which is evil. It belongs to the Democrat Slaver Party - and should stay with the Democrat Slaver party.
