It’s not a matter of color, it’s a matter of culture.
In 2042 – when the Census Bureau says white people will fall below 50 percent of the population – it’s not race that will determine how things go, it will be behavior.
Whether this milestone ushers in a new era of American glory – or whether it kills the Republic as we know it – will be determined by the personal conduct of the Americans of that day. It doesn’t matter what color the Americans of 2042 are, it only matters that they retain enough traditional American culture to sustain the society and the nation.
It doesn’t matter who Americans are, it matters what they do.
And for the ascendancy of non-whites in America to sustain the nation, there must be a general change in the personal cultures of many of today’s minorities.
Specifically Latinos and African-Americans.
That is not a criticism of individuals, or a denial of the wonderful variety and opportunity of individual achievement – it is simply an application of today’s demographic tendencies to tomorrow’s demographic proportions.
Unfortunately, today’s Latino and African-American communities are disproportionately involved with several behaviors that are burdensome on society. That doesn’t mean that all blacks and Latinos are bad or that all whites are good, or anything like that at all, but the statistical probabilities of certain behaviors are very closely linked to demographic profiles.
That’s not a function of race, but it is a function of culture – with culture being defined as the values, heritage, priorities, behaviors, traditions and tendencies of a group or individual.
Here are some examples.
Blacks and Latinos, today, are disproportionately likely to have academic failure, welfare reliance, criminal conduct, out-of-wedlock birth and non-nuclear families, substance-abuse problems, and low income and bad credit.
“Disproportionately likely” means that the rate of these behaviors is higher among Latinos and blacks than it is among whites.
If in 2042, as the combined populations of blacks and Latinos – with smaller populations of Asians, Pacific Islanders and Native Americas – move above 50 percent of the population, much will hang on whether or not they continue to be disproportionately likely to have the difficulties listed above.
If they do, the real number of those in society involved in those issues will rise significantly. Correspondingly, the real number of those in society without those problems will fall.
The combination of those two facts will determine whether or not the society can sustain itself, and whether or not the nation will have a citizenry that can carry it forward.
Some conduct of citizens sustains and supports the society and government. Obeying the law, paying the taxes, raising stable families, acquiring and using the skills necessary to perform society’s functions. A certain percentage of society must be engaged in those sustaining activities or the society will decay and collapse.
Social function allows a citizen to carry the society. Social dysfunction forces the society to carry the citizen.
Minority communities in America today are disproportionately stricken with social dysfunction. If that same rate of social dysfunction stays with minority communities as they combine to form a new majority, there will come a breaking point when too many citizens rely on society and not enough citizens strengthen society.
America today is strained to near the breaking point by social dysfunction. Any significant increase in such conditions could be catastrophic.
There are two explanations offered for this dysfunction. Some claim it is the consequence of racism and disadvantage. Others say it is the consequence of personal choice and failure.
In either case, the culture of portions of minority America today is failing. It produces people who are less likely to succeed and be sustaining of either themselves or the society.
And that must change.
And it must change quickly.
If the racial milestone will be passed in 2042 is 36 years away, the time for culture change is now. A baby born today will be in the prime of life in 2042. Making the cultural changes necessary to prepare that baby to live a successful and productive life must begin immediately.
And that will be a huge undertaking.
It will be one of the greatest challenges our Republic has ever faced.
And it won’t be done with government programs or government checks. It can only be done by individuals and groups resolutely choosing a new path, a better path. There is not an external solution that can be imposed or provided by a paternalistic government. There is only the power of human will and self-reliance.
If we continue to see the solutions to these problems in the further redistribution of wealth – tax one group to provide benefits and services for another group – we must recognize that there comes a tipping point where the demands of the recipients outweigh the means of the taxed. After a while, there really isn’t any more wealth to be redistributed.
In less than 40 years, non-whites will comprise a majority. They will become the de facto leaders of society.
Between now and then they must prepare themselves for that responsibility.
How well they do will determine not only their own future, but the future of the United States.
There will be no change.
Thankfully I will be gone, my progeny shall suffer however...

A multi-ethnic America can survive and prosper. But a multi-cultural America will not.
There is a difference between being multi-ethnic and multi-cultural. It all comes back to values.
If the America of 2042 is an America in which multiple ethnicities of people with strong families and strong values, then skin color or ethnic backround won’t matter.
If the America of 2042 is an America in which most of America has gone ghetto, because of the encroachment of ethnicities which have bad values and bad behaviors and social pathologies, then America as we know it today will not exist then.
Will there be red states and blue states then? The red states being enclaves in which the America we yearn for has survived? Will blue states be the ones which have gone ghetto? We’ll see in future years how this all plays out.

Exactly. Most people labeled ‘racist’, are actually ‘culturalists’. They have no problem with the color, just the culture. No problem with a difference in appearance, but rather a difference in behavior. That is the true root of the problem.
Prior to this sucker punch, the Blacks only had to fight lynching, murder, mayhem and economic and societal discrimination.
The Great Society was much more insideous! The Great Society targeted the Black Nuclear Family. It destroyed it, resulting in massive illegitimacy along with associated destruction of morals, and the rampant drug use and violence.
The problem now is a Black and Hispanic parallel cultures who hate each other, compete with each other for the government handouts, and continue the culture of immorality. The Democrats who created this situation plan on using it to line their pockets and continue to consolidate total power...until society collapses.
Sadly, you are right. We live in a politically correct world now, and saying anything about ghetto culture is considered racist. So, we may well continue to see ghetto culture transform America.

I see no indication, inkling, or hint of a trend toward this path. We would do our progeny a favor to speak to them about this in frank and honest terms.

I - for one - don’t share the same opinion as Lonsberry. He’s projecting too far away. We won’t have to wait till 2042 when whites are in the minority. Already our typical American (white) culture is the subordinate view.
2042 is already here. Our white values that made this country great militarily, economically, educationally, and in every other way have been destroyed. We kid ourselves as we wallow around in the ashes that are left - saying to ourselves the party really isn’t over.
But it’s over. Now
So by 2042, I seriously doubt there will be a United States of America. I have two possible answers as to what we will become;
A colony of China called the United States.

Three to five smaller countries broken up by the disputes

Amen to your post. Also , prior to the Great Society taking hold, Blacks were interested in obtaining an education as were most Whites. Only the White trash segment distained going to school. Blacks may have had their share of those, I don’t know. all I know is that every Black I came in contact with back then, wanted to go as far as they were able in school. But, back then my circle of travel was very small.
Political Correct nonsense. They are one in the same.
There is no 'will' there in the collective groups mentioned that will rule, other than "to rule". They won't develop the will to move this country forward because they are constantly looking backward - at victimhood. Consequently, what they are looking for is not the idea of freedom that founded this country, but a reversal of positions of authority WITHOUT THE RESPONSIBILITY. In the end, they will take and take and take and redistribute until there is nothing left to redistribute all the while reveling in their new roles as 'master' oblivious to their and their childrens' futures in a country stripped bare of any substantive progress. A very very bleak future ahead.

Yep you're right, one thing we've lost is an ability to state things clearly and factually. PC has neutered our very thoughts.
Sometimes I wonder if America could break up, not unlike the breakup of the old Soviet Union.
We could see a liberal America in the northeast, a more conservative America in the south, a liberal country on the west coast, etc.
It’s possible that the America we all know and love will survive in enclaves in small towns, or just certain regions of the country.
