President Obama waived a provision of federal law designed to prevent the supply of arms to terrorist groups to clear the way for the U.S. to provide military assistance to "vetted" opposition groups fighting Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.
Some elements of the Syrian opposition are associated with radical Islamic terrorist groups, including al Qaeda, which was responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pa., in 2001. Assad's regime is backed by Iran and Hezbollah.
The president, citing his authority under the Arms Export Control Act, announced today that he would "waive the prohibitions in sections 40 and 40A of the AECA related to such a transaction."
Those two sections prohibit sending weaponry to countries described in section 40(d): "The prohibitions contained in this section apply with respect to a country if the Secretary of State determines that the government of that country has repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism," Congress stated in the Arms Control Export Act.

On May 22, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 15 to 3 to arm the Syrian rebels.
Those voting no were the right wing isolationist Rand Paul and the two antiwar dems, Wyden and Udall.
I wonder what Oliver North has to say about that.
Obama is waiver happy. He has no authority to do this. Past Presidents were investigated by Congress for doing this.

Sure it is..who’s going to have the guts to stand against this???? There are none.
I’ve racked my brain trying to understand why God continues allowing this man to make these decisions ‘unopposed’.... But then I keep reminding myself Obama could not have risen to be Pres. without going through the Hands of God first.....and in order for the focus of God’s ultimate plans to go forward the focus HAS to be on the ME and we have to be weakened or that would not happen.
Hard watching our nation weaken though....but we knew it would one day have to be so. He’s got three more years and the ME is moving rapidly now...I can see things esculating even more in that time.
My hope is behind the scenes in this country there are good men who are working hard to sustain us when the crap hits the fan over there.....like the oil in N. Dakota and Marcellous Gas Deposits here....moving slow but might be enough... ....then in the next election we might be self sustaining. Big Dream..but keeps me hopeful regardless of how things look at this time.

I hear the voices of despair all around these days, those who are too ready to pronounce America dead. But I just can’t join them. How can I, when I have myself experienced God’s mercy, forgiveness, and redemptive power? If He humbly stands at the door of the heart of the individual and knocks, eager to redeem at the mere turn of the knob, how much more does He yearn for the salvation of an entire nation, especially one that was from its very beginnings sincerely dedicated to Him? So, I will go right on hoping, and praying, and working, in the belief that my fellow Americans will turn towards God again, as they have done before, and that the LORD God Almighty will move providentially, swiftly, on our behalf, and on behalf of our children and grandchildren.
