Retired Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, former CIA director under President Barack Obama, called strongly Saturday for Congress to back the White House on Syria, declaring that military action against the regime is necessary to deter Iran, North Korea and other would-be aggressors.
Failure of Congress to approve the presidents request would have serious ramifications not just in the Mideast but around the world, Petraeus said in a four-sentence statement provided to POLITICO.

other would be aggressors
would that be US? our aggression is cleaner than their potential aggression?
now he can be called David “Betray us” or Betray the US
I wonder what else the NSA dug up on him?
He’s had some Fool-Aid to drink!
A fawning interview of Samantha Power was recently published in a British paper by...Paula Broadwell.
Say, Samantha, just how long HAVE you two known each other?
Pharaoh is going to launch, regardless...
The attack on Syria is something that powerful forces want.
AIPAC which lobbies on behalf of Israel is for it which means Israel wants to do it.
The supporters of the “opposition” in Syria (Al-Quaeda and other elements) include Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
And of course there’s Barack Obama.
What endgame are these folks working towards? What backroom deals have been made?????
My thoughts would be that short term they are going after Syria to draw Iran into a fight so Iran could be taken down.
But later down the road I suspect the quid pro quo involves a Palestinian deal with Bibi Netanyahu giving away a lot of the store in exchange for the elimination of the Iranian threat.
yeah, well, the media delighted in his demise...he was pwn3d by the Clown, and I really don’t care what he thinks on this issue.
we have no security interest in syria.
no blood for ego.

Obama and his like have (correctly) figured out that most of the power-hungry types in D.C. almost certainly have some skeletons in their closets, and he has no doubt done a full-court press blackmailing all of these scumbags (with some help, of course). IMO, there are not many good people left inside the Beltway. The sewer will have to truly be flushed at some point if we want to get this country back on track.
Spot on, but not just for Obama. What possibly national interest is there in attacking Assad’s forces?
Who?.....
It never ceases to amaze me how many men, in places where they should be men of honor and strength, are actually walking pieces of crap.
“David H. Petraeus, you are smarter and better than this.”
Obviously, he is not.
“declaring that military action against the regime is necessary to deter Iran, North Korea and other would-be aggressors.
So let me get this straight... Bombing a regime that is not necessarily guilty of anything, is necessary to deter Iran, North Korea and other would-be aggressors.
Is that what I’m hearing?
Like the Tuna says, "You are what you are."
Good points.
The rest of the world is laughing. I’m sure most of them realize that Zippy will be gone in Jan 2017.
I see no reason to do anything to “save” Zippy’s reputation. He has none to save and everyone knows it. Even he, with his limited intelligence, must know it. Sure he’s in denial, but deep down he knows it.
If they knew who Petraeus is, I am sure the uninformed American electorate would be duly impressed.
