President Obama is considering a strike on Syrian military targets involving sea-launched cruise missiles or possibly long-range bombers that would last no more than two days, according to senior administration officials and reported by Karen DeYoung and Anne Gearan of The Washington Post. Reuters reports that the West has told the opposition to expect a strike "within days."
The limited strike would seemingly be a response to allegations that the Syrian government used chemical weapons on its own people before dawn on August 21. Hundreds were killed and thousands suffered "neurotoxic symptoms."
The design of the potential attack implies sending a message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad without becoming entrenched in the 29-month conflict.
On Monday U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said: "There is a reason why President Obama has made clear to the Assad regime that this international norm [of chemical weapons use] cannot be violated without consequences."
The Post notes that the targets would not be directly related to Syrias chemical weapons arsenal and would probably include key government buildings in the capital and perhaps airfields.

Give that man another Nobel Peace Prize!
Ditto!
He should do nothing. This is a civil war within Syria. Nothing good will come of intervention.
The consequences being, it makes ODINGA look bad...
Anyone?
Hello?
The illegitimate, bisexual, Marxist Kenyan Muslim Usurper could eat a live negro fetus on the set of "The View", and he would be complemented on his table manners.
To say nothing of being lauded for performing a post-partum abortion.
No chit. Syrian Aspirin Factories on High Alert!
This is the dumbest idea ever....just tell Assad to keep his head down for two days...take an extended weekend Bashar....then come back after we are done playing global mall cop
Enough to cripple the syrian government so that the muslim brotherhood can take over
The renegade government spends money when it wants on what it wants. They don’t cut anything because of lack of funds. They only make cuts in selected areas to punish opponents. The money for these military adventures, as well as everything else, comes from taxation through devaluation of the dollar by the Federal Reserve as they invent money and buy treasury bonds with them.
The only connection between money spent on military adventurism and Social Security is that both are funded by devaluation of our currency.
Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Wee what I told you? Obama's intent is NOT to destroy the chemical weapons but instead to help the terrorists out.
Perhaps Syria’s allies will decide to fight longer.
You I think that what happens in Syria will stay in Syria......if we allow gas warfare there it will come here
Why do you insist that I’m trying to read BO’s mind.
I only instructed on his RESPONSIBILITY to have already destroyed them.
What an unmitigated, stinking pile of Bravo Sierra.
Number one, there are NO US INTERESTS associated with a strike on Syria in any case. The people Obama is backing are worse for our interests than Assad is right now...and they have no idea who used Chemicals, and any logical thinker would tell you it was not Assad. More like the rebels themselves to try and draw us in. And where would they get them? Think Libya, think Benghazi.
Second, if you are going to carry our a strike you certainly do not announce beforehand when you are going to strike (within a couple of days), and how long it will last (no more than two days).
This allows the adversary you are hitting to easily move potential targets and people away so the strikes are ineffective.
This has “rope a dope,” written all over it and the dopes are meant to be us, the American people.

Thanks, I’m going to read this.
I understand what you’5re saying. It’s just that my folks struggled to pay the SS tax and saw their SS pittance shrink each year as their dollars became worth less each year.
I’ll not say more...It angers me the way hardworking people are treated.
It's amazing with all the pro-gay agenda crap that Obama and his administration hava embarked upon, that the media have yet to point out his homosexual tendencies. (see also my tag line)
