WASHINGTON Representative Kerry Bentivolio, a freshman Republican from Michigan, has a legislative dream. It is not to balance the federal budget, or find a way to help his ailing state or even take away money from the federal health care program, a goal that has so animated many other Republicans this summer.
Rather, Mr. Bentivolio told constituents, it is to put in motion the impeachment of President Obama. If I could write that bill and submit it, it would be a dream come true, he said this month.
Mr. Bentivolio may be lacking in his understanding of the technical details of the impeachment process he has retained experts and historians to help him with that, he said but he is hardly the only one with this desire.
While many members of Congress have used their August break to engage in conversations about immigration policy, the federal budget and the impending implementation of the Affordable Care Act, some Republicans have taken the opportunity to raise the specter of if not quite the grounds for presidential impeachment.
At least two other House Republicans told voters this month that the impeachment process could happen. And last week, Senator Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican who has called himself a friend of the president, told constituents that the nation was perilously close to an impeachment situation.
Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, lamented to one voter who asked about the prospect of impeachment that the Senate, controlled by Democrats, would probably not yield the needed votes for conviction. (This logic has not impeded Mr. Cruz from seeking to stop a short-term spending bill unless money is drained from the health care program.)
There is also a grass-roots movement in which citizens across the nation have been hanging signs on overpasses...

Don’t jaw about it! Just do it!
Rid America of its cancerous growth ensconced in the White Hut!
Because impeaching Clinton really showed him.
Dreaming won’t get the job done!!! Get off your butt and get the job done!!
NYT trying to make R’s look bad.
They have nothing good or interesting to write about their team.
could it just possibly be moving forward?
if the NYTimes (of all media) has noticed it,....??????
do you think Boehner and Company have suddenly figured out how to grow the requisite anatomical parts, or will they just sit there and serve as his Rubber Stamp Brigade for the next 3 years, or?
But if the Senate doesn’t have a GOP majority, he won’t be convicted.
The US Congress is too busy
keeping the borders open,
failing to make, or keep, a budget,
failing to protect the Homeland,
arming al Qaeda,
protecting the Moslem Brotherhood,
funding IRS and NSA Atrocities,
and egregiously making "laws" for everyone but themselves and their staff.
They’ve relinquished their right to declare war, or to withdraw funding from illegally declared wars. What makes anyone think they will impeach Obama, or that, if impeached, he would actually be convicted by a Democratically controlled Senate?
The rule of law is no longer applicable in the tribal USA.
Dreaming wont get the job done!!! Get off your butt and get the job done!!
I second that.
Well said.
But, but impeaching President Obama would probably have the same impact and effect of impeaching Clinton and Holden. Impeaching a Democrat does nothing; it is a badge of courage to them is it not?
Our country has been taken over by the low information voter. The Democrats help them to connect the dots. Rational, common sense voters are in the minority. We are doomed!
X-rays of his head revealed nothing.
Get his impeachable offenses on the congressional record. Keep adding to it as we go.
The minute we impeach him, he becomes “martyr-ized.”
I just want to see him become more and more diminished, incompetent, and irrelevant. I want him to become a parody of himself. I want him to be a forever embarrassment to himself and this country.
I want history to demean him into nothingness - a mere blip in the historical record noted only for his skin color and affirmative action.
Can we still waterboard him though? Please?
That sounds so "Constitutional!" I guess that we should keep fighting, and adding to the wretched record of failure. It would be good reading. Maybe it would eventually wake up some of our lawmakers.
