Tim Tebow's days with Patriots may be coming to end, gets no playing time vs. Lions

DETROIT – Tim Tebow spent most of this Thursday night – perhaps one of his fleeting few remaining as an NFL quarterback – standing near the 50-yard line of the New England Patriots sideline.

When the Pats were on defense, he'd sometimes casually flip a ball around by himself. When they were on offense, he'd put his helmet on, ready to go in – whether at QB or any other position the coaching staff might request.

"You just prepare yourself and be ready for whenever your number is called," Tebow said.

Tebow's number was never called.

Hey, personal attacks. This is just sports talk. My politics are hard core conservative. My point w/ Tebow is he is a super-strong physical & mental talent, who IMO hasn't been given a fair shot as a developmental prospect. If not QB, then he already has signaled a willingness to play another position. I believe he could be a John Riggins type FB / RB.

An owner, GM, & coach with enough balls could take in Tebow and mold an offense around him that would win games, even in today’s pass-happy league.

<><><>

And let me guess. The closest that you have been to a team owner or GM is while sitting up in the nose bleed seats. Like the rest of us.

How is that you know more than the actual owners and GMs do? Aren’t you wasting your talents posting on anonymous internet forums?

Remember the wildcat and how well it did a few years ago. For a handful of games, that is.

Things have changed since the single wing (the first offense I learned and played). That was the mid 60s and I was 8.

Dude, lighten up. This was just a sports chat thread (4 days ago), not life or death. Move on and allow people to have their opinions. Wow.

Tebow is being punished for being a devout Christian, not because he can’t win football games

Funny stuff - you wrote the above and are now telling me to lighten up, it’s just sports talk.

Reggie White black, so he got a pass. Kurt Warner publicly criticized Tebow for his professions of faith and so became a left wing sports media darling. Warner actually cautioning on the backlash from the media and the NFL. Trouble for Tebow commenced when his mother & he appeared in a mild, pro-life Super Bowl ad (that, BTW, made no mention of abortion). Mike Lupicas of the world made it their mission to destroy Tebow, and they've succeeded pretty much in doing so. Every move, utterance, mistake amplified and scrutinized. May be too late now, but he was, and should have been treated as, a developmental project. One more cut deadline; Pats might keep Tebow, even though they typically go with only two QBs. Could use him in other roles, which he said he is willing to do.

So everyone except Tebow is responsible for the position he is in?

The media, mike lupica, the broncos, the jets, probably now the pats too.

not even an ounce of it on Tebow?

The modern NFL doesn’t have time for developmental projects. There’s too much money on the line and too much pressure from fans and owners to win NOW. There’s a reason why so many rookie QBs start, and so many of the ones that aren’t good in the first year are never heard from again. The age of NFL teams developing a player ended a long time ago. And yeah Tebow, and quite a few other QBs, probably could have benefited from being developed, but he came up in the wrong era for that.

Didn’t say that; only that he deserves a fair shot, which I don’t think he’s gotten. The Pats may give him the time & space to get better. Gotta be on a team and working to do so.

Well, it looks like Tebow is going to light it up tonight. No-holds barred, we are about to get the real Tebow in action against those pitiful New York Giants.
