On climate change, Obama, EPA plan action without Congress
Washington Times ^ | Aug 14, 2013 | By Valerie Richardson

BOULDER, Colo. | EPA chief Gina McCarthy said Wednesday that the Obama administration is finished waiting for Congress to act on climate change and plans to bypass the legislative branch in developing a federal response. Ms. McCarthy, who was confirmed last month as Environmental Protection Agency administrator, cited President Obama’s June 25 speech at Georgetown University, in which he unveiled his Climate Action Plan and vowed to make combatting climate change a priority of his second term.

Mr. Obama gave “what I really think is a most remarkable speech by a president of the United States,” said Ms. McCarthy in remarks at the University of Colorado Boulder.

“Essentially, he said that it is time to act,” she said. “And he said he wasn’t going to wait for Congress, but that he had administrative authorities and that it was time to start utilizing those more effectively and in a more concerted way.”

She insisted that reducing greenhouse-gas emissions could be accomplished without harming economic growth, calling the tension between the two priorities a “false choice.”

“We’re going to do this this year, next year, the following year, until people understand these are not scary things to do, these are actions we can all do, they’re actions that benefit everybody, that will grow the economy, and they’re actions that will protect the health and safety of individuals,” Ms. McCarthy said.

We do need to disobey!

What we need to disobey however is not intuitive.

We need to disobey demons.

See my previous post for more.

We got 1 station left here locally selling no ethanol in all three grades.

Got a new F150 4X4, 360HP, averaging 16.5 to 17 MPG on the midgrade.

Ain't tried the top grade in it yet.

Might take a shot next fill up.

Bottom line: what Obama is doing is going against the will of the people.

I voted for President
I voted for two Senators
I voted for a Representative

He is telling me three of those votes dont count.
He is disenfranchising the voters.

Dictatorship. How can he unilaterally do this? What happened to checks and balances?

Unsound science meets unbalanced government.

Who could possibly disagree with that?

It should take anyone with half a brain back to those wonderful promising days of the late 30’s in Germany. Fortunately we have an abundance of people in this country with half a brain so the concept should be well understood. There are times when the law just gets in your way and a “Man of Action” like O just has to step in and take charge.

I just hope he doesn’t make the same mistake others have made before him. You know, I mean I hope he doesn’t decide to invade Russia. That would be a big mistake.

Gina: “... these are actions we can all do, they’re actions that benefit everybody, that will grow the economy ...”

Gina, you’re a moron. Tell me how shutting down coal fired electricity plants in South Carolina and sending my utility bill through the roof “benefits everybody and grows the economy.”

There’s been a lot of talk about defunding nobamacare. Might as well add the EPA to the list.

Why not? Write a regulation, and after a period of time, BAM! Enforceable!
What a crock these regulatory agencies are. They are a lie and theft of our constitutional rights.

I can still get 93 octane premium straight gasoline but regular and mid grade are blended with ethanol. 91 octane premium straight gas is also available.
The Carerra has a preference for the 93...

"This is so illegal"

No, its not illegal

In 2007 Scotus ruled that CO2 was a pollutant. Scotus also ruled that EPA should determine the threat or danger of CO2, and if appropriate, EPA should regulate CO2 with the Clean Air Act. Scotus gave authority to EPA/Prez.

So Bush didn't want to do it, its to late in his term. He wanted Congress to do it. So in 2007 and 2008, Congress first decided that they would and that they would do it with cap and trade rather than cap and tax. And they would do it in 2009.

But Congress was never able to do it with Cap and Trade, so the Senate tried something else in 2010 and that also failed.

Also, Obama deferred to Congress in 2009 and 2010, but he did proceed with EPA doing their endangerment findings and establishing a regulatory threshold by "tailoring the regulation".

So in 2010 after the Senate failed Obama began to move forward and the lawsuits against EPA began. 7 or 8 suits. 20 states involved. Numerous industry and political groups involved. The plaintiffs also tried to get the courts to block EPA until all the cases were ruled on but the courts said no. The suits revolve around whether EPA's endangerment findings were done right and whether the EPA had the legal authority to tailor the regulation or was that Congress's authority.

Then all the suits were combined into 1 case and in June 2012 the DC court of Appeals ruled for the EPA. That ruling was appealed a few months ago so Scotus will probably rule on this by next June.

In the meantime, there is still nothing being done, although Obama has said he would be doing something later this year and more in 2014 and 2015.

Run everything I got on the no ethanol mid grade except for the Johnson GT 175 outboard, it gets to drink the 93 octane.
Since it's a 1989, any ethanol would kill it quick.
24 years old and still going strong.

Well, with the feckless Republican leadership, there will be no Republican pushback, which is consistent with their past behavior. There is no one in the political establishment we can count on to counter Obama.

We have a 225 horsepower Honda outboard on our pontoon that seems happy to run on 87 oxy. The reg/premium spread is >$.20, and I buy my gas in town and haul gas cans in my pickup. Gas on the lake is usually $.50 - $75 over the street.
I run the car, pickup, outboard and mowers on synthetic or semi-synthetic lube. Schaeffer of St. Louis makes an excellent semi-synthetic. I use 0W 40 Mobil synthetic in the Porsche.

Have a digital tach on the outboard, will turn about 5500 RPM on the mid grade, but can get around 5700 to 5750 RPM out of it on premium.
Trimmed out just right, I can get 65-66 MPH out of it on premium and 61-62 MPH out of it on mid grade.
And at 2.5 miles to the gallon wide open, price don't matter, there's fish to be caught.

Boat = Hole in the water you constantly throw money into, LOL.

A buddy laughed when I told him about the V-6, 225 horse Honda on our pontoon. He went for a ride here and I put it to 55 mph (I thought the sun top was going to fly off) and he understood the logic.

No, Cherry Point, Whatcom County. The Longview EIS is just beginning. That terminal is an entirely different situation because it is owned by an Australian Company that also owns the coal leases and has made the Indian tribe, whose land the mines are on, a full partner. In addition, Warren Buffet has bought into the Longview terminal. One other factor is the towns people in Longview, want the terminal because they are used to the coal dust and no one really lives near the terminal, itself. The state has not made up its mind whether to do a comprehensive EIS study on Longview, which would encompass global warming. I am betting that the Longview terminal gets approved, if the Australian coal company is still viable in two years.
