CVS requesting ID for nail polish remover, in effort to curb ‘meth’ production
Fox ^ | 8/11/13

CVS pharmacy customers are being asked for identification when they buy nail polish remover, WPRI 12 News reports.

The policy, which has been rolled out across southern New England in the past few weeks, means customers must show ID and will be limited on the number of bottles of remover they can purchase, according to the station.

The drugstore chain says the rule is an attempt to curb the making of illegal methamphetamine, and issued this statement, according to the station:

“Because acetone is an ingredient used in the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine, we recently implemented a policy that a valid ID must be presented to purchase acetone-containing products such as nail polish remover. Our policy also limits the sale of these products in conjunction with other methamphetamine precursors and is based on various regulations requiring retailers to record sales of acetone.”

Oh, please.. it’s Acetone.

You can score it by the gallon at Home Depot.

Because we should all be willing to give up any amount of privacy, rights, or freedom, just to make sure that someone, somewhere, isn’t getting high.

Put something in the nail polish that gives off a chemical signature that is traceable in the meth.

And for much cheaper per unit volume. Actually this is good. Might edumacate whichever of the sheeple are edumacable to buy where you get the best deal in the first place.

Related funny story: When my niece was about 4, she got a bunch of nail polish on her hands while visiting. I got it off with acetone and told her mom so when she came to pick her up, because I knew the mom was too dumb to process it rationally and would wig out. She did.

Evidently, removing nail polish with acetone at $5/4 oz = good, but $10/gal or whatever it was then = bad. Sheeple. [facepalm]

I bet a 14 year old girl could go to CVS and buy the “Plan B” morning after pill without so much as a signature.

Reminds me of a situation a few years back.... my two younger daughters (around 6, 7 years old at the time) and a friend decided to paint the bathroom sink with some sparkly nail polish. "Oooh, look Mommy, isn't it pretty?!?!" LOL.... It took about two full bottles of acetone remover, and a good 45 minutes of elbow grease, to get (most) of it off. Thank God no one from CVS was patrolling the neighborhood or I'd've been arrested for running a meth lab!

Testing to see how much the sheeple will willingly accept.

Yeah, I bet a 3 oz. bottle of acetone will go a looooong way to making whatever it is they make with it.

Go to a Home Depot and by acetone by the quart or gallon. CVS strained at a gnat and swallowed a camel.

I had a fit when they started putting cold medicine behind the counter and one had to sign a paper saying you bought it. I knew then that requirement would spread to anything someone else could use to get high or down or whatever it is they do. Why should I be limited because someone else is nuts?
