Posted on 08/07/2013 7:39:14 PM PDT by WilliamIII
It sounds like a small-bore infraction: Liz Cheney, a United States Senate candidate in Wyoming, bought a state fishing license last summer even though she had not lived in the state for a year, as required.
But the matter has inflamed her critics in the state, who have already labeled her an interloper and taken issue with her challenge to Senator Michael B. Enzi in next years Republican primary. Mr. Enzi is a popular three-term incumbent who is as conservative as Ms. Cheney.
Its a serious misstep, said Liz Brimmer, a Republican strategist in Wyoming and former chief of staff to former Senator Craig Thomas, a Republican. Allegedly poaching in a state where being a resident sportsman is, by law, an earned privilege. Wyoming people will take this very seriously.

With that ridiculous crap being put aside, it appears that Enzi has a fight on his hands despite his support from the the GOP "old boys network".
Up until this point in his political career, he's ignored the "Tea Party" but now that his senate seat is in question, he decides to join them?
His support of the internet sales tax certainly hasn't helped him either.
While Enzi is indeed a Republican, his history is typical of all the current lifer and lifer wannabe's who want to stay in office and remain a "good guy" in Washington.
There is nothing in Liz Cheney's platform or beliefs that would lead me to believe that she wouldn't be a better Senator for Wyoming than Enzi.
Isn't it our mission to rid our government of the RINO's such as Enzi?
Liz Cheney would be the ultimate RINO.
Quite frankly, she doesn’t know shit about the local politics here. She talks a big, airy game about “the burdens of regulations and laws on...” (insert ranchers, farmers, businesses, etc as appropriate), but when pressed to name actual regulations she’d support changing, she changes the subject.
She doesn’t know what regulations are affecting farmers and ranchers in Wyoming. She doesn’t know shit about the proposed Sage Grouse listing(s), the particulate dust regulations, or anything like that.
She talks up a big game about opposing Obama... but then goes off on tangents about foreign policy, which, quite frankly, most of us no longer give a damn about.
She’d most likely be our very own Wyoming version of Tom Daschle.
I’m sure she’ll attract a lot of neo-con money and attention from outside people who think that she’s going to “do” something, but from already having listened to this tedious, entitled daddy’s girl, I predict that she’s going to spend a lot of other people’s money, going nowhere fast. Quite frankly, she’s not as smart as many people like to think. Listening to her on the local radio station was an eye-opener. If her IQ is what is necessary to work at the State Department, then there should be no shortage of people who could work at State.
As a U.S. Senator, isn't that what they're supposed to be concerned about?
What do you have a state legislature for?
Isn't that the job of your state's U.S. Congressional Representatives?
When about half of the lands in your state are controlled by the Feds, the Federal government affects your state issues far more than people would like.
When you have the Obama administration declaring a “war on coal” and that’s where a huge chunk of the state’s tax revenues come from, well, there’s another case where the job of the Congressional delegation is dealing with state issues.
Cheney knows nothing about any of this stuff. One need only look at where she was putting her time in before she landed here: the US State Department and forming the “Keep America Safe” neo-con PAC (or whatever) group with Kristol. She’s a neo-con hawk, which is someone who will do nothing for us in Wyoming except embroil us in more crap in the middle east.
It is. And it is the job of Senators, too.
We have two senators, and only one House representative. Guess where we have more influence on domestic issues? The senate.
Keep us in or get us out? Since she has more support from the Tea Party than your Enzi, I'm beginning to think you're still a supporter of the "old boy" GOP.......
That is pretty much how I see things too. Liz should have run against a Rat not a solid conservative. That she choose to run against a solid conservative tells me all I need to know about her. Shameless opportunist who could not be elected to anything but for her last name. Other then cash in on her last name what has liz ever done?
Kristol and his ilk are quite solidly on the “get us embroiled in the middle east mess” camp.
Their campaign is to keep the US military backstopping Israel’s interests.
Enzi is not a "solid conservative."
“Theres a huge difference between wrestling with a personal problem within your family, and pushing government-enforced evil upon an entire nation as an outworking of that personal problem.
Do *you* realize *that*?”
Yes I do, but not quite with your degree of vitriol. I has something to do with how you word things.
>> has something to do with how you word things.
We’re in nothing less than a culture war for the heart and soul of this great nation.
I should be nice? The faggot lobby isn’t “nice”. They mean business and they take no prisoners.
I have zero respect, zero sympathy, and one hundred percent vitriolic disgust for their enablers in the body politic — Liz Cheney is one such. Oh and by the way — she’s pro choice too. Oh sure, technically she just “hasn’t stated a position” on abortion. You watch.
The entire Cheney family put on the politically correct public face in dealing with their own queer problem instead of confronting the evil that is homosexuality head on. If they were Joe and Jane Q. Public, I’d understand. But in their position as (theoretically Christian and conservative) leaders, that is not acceptable.
Mollycoddle the enemy if you like. Softpeddle. Tolerate. Just like they teach you to, 24/7, on your teevee. But as for me and my house... we take our cultural cues from the Book not the media, and we know right from wrong. I don’t intend to be silent and watch America swirl down the tubes without a fight.
That's about all she has. Her real reason for challenging him is she wants a Senate seat that she doesn't have to work too hard for.
Good for you Tick.
We all know homosexuals and most perhaps even have some family connection to one or several.
No one is trying to be mean to anyone else's special friend, or anyone else's self-generated pride at being "tolerant".
But the fact is that the homo lobby like the abortion lobby like the anti-gun lobby like the anti-Christian lobby is very large and powerful, is a key component of the regime that is now in charge of this country, and they hope to transform it beyond all recognition.
Those who cringe or mewl at a term like "faggot" ought to try to imagine what the other side is calling you and planning for you behind closed doors.
Do they think Janet Napolitano's identifying Tea Party members and gun groups as the primary danger to her country was an accident?
Then isn't there a solid conservative to challenge him who isn't a carpetbagger?
So she's a carpetbagger? Big deal!
Carpetbagging occurs all the time. In 1984, Rep. Bob Dornan (R-Calif.) moved to Orange County, Calif. after his Santa Monica, Calif.-based district was gerrymandered. And the voters elected him to Congress, where he served for more than a decade.
Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Calif.), who for years represented a Long Beach, Calif.-based district, moved to Northern California and won a seat in Congress--as did Tom McClintock, who represented a Los Angeles-area legislative district before moving 400 miles to the north, where he successfully won a seat in Congress.
That’s about the gist of what we think here in Wyoming, too.
And the other thing that people question is “where is her husband?” He seems to not have been seen in Wyoming that much. Which is what leads to people wondering just how much time she’d spend in Wyoming if she were elected.
That’s one thing people can say about Enzi - is that he spends lots of time back here in Wyoming.
Well, there are, but they figured they would run when Enzi indicates he isn’t about to run again.
Cheney is choosing this moment to run to make sure the solid conservatives we have here, ready to run for Enzi’s seat, are kept out of the race. What allows her to do this is the neo-con money that will follow her into the state’s election process. Senate races in Wyoming are low-budget affairs compared to races on the coasts.
Lizzy's pro-homo, pro-NSA, pro-Statist views may be more constructive in challenging a DEM in her OWN state instead of carpetbagging as one more self-anointed, entitled elitist.
That's all good and noble. But it is NOT good and noble to cram their support of pro-homosexual marriage, pro-homo-military, pro-NSA, and pro-Police-State, pro-military-industrial complex, and pro Big Goob/globalism down our throats.
