Yeah, it's kinda weird growing up in a town where over half the TV series are based.
I watch old re-runs of shows sometimes and can either tell you the name of any street they show, or can pinpoint the precise neighborhood (most of the time).
What really cracks me up, is when they suddenly change location during the middle of a chase scene. I know that non-Angelenos don't catch it, but locals just shake their heads and chuckle.

I'm also a native Angeleno. I drove professionally in the city for years and years. Unless you'd done it hundreds of times (like I have), you'd be surprised at how fast the surface street route to LAX is, compared to going around the long way on the freeways.
The only time we drivers would take the 110 or the 405 to LAX, was when we were starting out in Beverly Hills or Downtown. If we were anywhere near Hollywood or Mid-Wilshire, we'd take Highland, etc. to the airport.
It's entirely plausible to me that Hastings was taking the surface street route to LAX. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't, if he knew his way around.
That was my first thought when the finger prints that were conveniently there — no time to compare. It’s only done that quickly on TV.
Then the unauthorized cremation.
Why would anyone want him to pretend to be dead?

Outside of Hollywood, cars seldom explode in flames during accidents. Certainly not meticulously designed and engineered, rigorously tested, precision assembled and crafted automobiles like those produced by Mercedes Benz.

One of the Seal 6 team that died in the helicopter crash had the same thing happen. They asked he not be cremated and they got a can delivered.

I feel that way when I watch Golden Girls or CSI Miami (even though didn’t grow up here, live here and still recognize the names)

When somebody like Hastings is in a fiery explosion/crash, I tend to think they were already dead before they were put in the car, and the “accident” was constructed to hide the true cause of death.
This kind of thing is not pulled off by low level jerks. It’s pulled off by “special” govt outfits, or at their behest.
