A 16-year-old has been arrested for allegedly using social media to organize a mob of teens to attack and rob pedestrians on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, police said.
The teen is said to have incited the crime spree, said Officer Bruce Borhanh. The teen’s name was withheld because he is a juvenile.

“In light of what the good people that were up there for lawful purpose intended to do, it really put a black eye on those days and we can’t have that,” Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese said.
Nine other teens are facing robbery charges in the incident, and have all pleaded not guilty to taking cellphones, a wallet and a skateboard. In all, about $1,700 in stolen property and $300 in damages were reported.
Detectives are still looking for one individual in the incident, who was caught on surveillance cameras on Hollywood Boulevard.

If they are using cell phones to incite this behaviour, they should be prosecuted under Federal law. It is no longer simple local jurisdiction I would think.
I heard an ABC Radio report which described the gang as “mostly” youths. I expected a band of elderly thugs.
I bet if they are using their Obamaphones.
This can’t be right. The ringleader is 16 — a mere CHILD. Obviously he is incapable of doing anything criminal at such a young age.

Why aren’t we allowed to say that they were black youth who came up from.Crenshaw? Why label them as generic teenagers when they are not typical teenagers????
Have him pay back the money, beat him to a pulp for a couple of weeks in the hospital and call it even.
Or charge him with a felony and destroy his life.

What a crock; they should be Tried as adults, and dealt with accordingly.
When I was young, looters were shot on sight.
Problems died down pretty quickly about looting.

Just as guilty for organizing, and inciting IMO.
If the area isn’t safe, people won’t go there to shop and dine. It doesn’t have to be criminal activity so egregious that it makes the news. Word gets around locally and people stay home. For instance, a movie theater closes because young folk bunp and grab purses from some elderly folk, more than one incident. The police can’t or won’t deal with it. Then the theater goes out of business.
