The media has drawn the line, and I suppose I'm on the wrong side. I'd wager most here are as well. I believe this is a messed up situation. These are two young people whose minds are telling them that they are a different gender than they are. They find doctors who literally mutilate their bodies, pump them full of hormones, and then proceed to tell them they are a different gender than what they are. However, they can't change their chromosomes.
But now that the teens' physical appearance matches their gender, both of them are excited to be able to go swimming, boating and sunbathe like other couples.

I just shudder at the thought that what they are doing requires the support mechanisms within the medical community to be consistently available for another 50 years or so.
It just strikes me that if/when said treatment becomes a limited commodity that they'll be in the first group turned away with treatment being reserved for actual, serious afflictions and not mental illness regardless of the degree.
These folks aren't tightly knit to begin with. The full unraveling will be ugly.
Watch this become a fad like tattoos and body piercing etc...the civilized world is at the bottom of the barrel, now the scraping begins.

We had family friends, effeminate man, masculine woman. In today’s world, they would have been encouraged to be homosexual. Instead, they had a loving marriage, and normal kids.

What can I say? The criminally insane are running things. I would not doubt that the "supportive" parents' mental and spiritual sickness influenced these teenagers into mental illness and perversion. They could have been cured but now with surgical mutilation - they're stuck. It's tragic, disgusting and should be illegal. Also noteworthy is the media acting as the propaganda medium to influence public opinion. They don't want to wait to go to hell individually, they want hell on earth for all of us.

This whole article reeks of promoting cowardice. The transgenders in question don’t like who they are. So instead of buckling down and dealing with life, they mutilate themselves, thinking it will solve anything.
Ignore reality, indulge in fantasy.
This madness will reap horrific dividends a few decades from now.
The media coverage of such cases is very sentimental, and also false. There is no mention of trans-sexual regret, nor of the inadvisability of performing surgery of this type on minors.
These young people are escaping into a fantasy, and I’ll warrant that if you looked closely at their lives, you would find reasons for their unhappiness, and possibly mental health issues. If they get on the transgender bandwagon, they are given attention and approval - something we all need when growing up. Unfortunately, the price is very high - self-mutilation.
