As an expert, I can verify that it makes it hard to taxi to the gate.

After it came off.


It got switched out, someone went on break without remembering to ratchet on the new gear. Imagine landing a plane you THINK has wheels firmly down and the ripaway you feel. Whew.

Having owned a few small airplanes, I can assure you that one should never land with the nose wheel touching down first.
There is not that much holding them on.
