Chicago police are going to hand deliver letters to people suspected of committing or being victims of gun crimes in an effort to stem violence in the city, according to a new report.
Starting Friday, a district commander will be delivering letters warning certain targets in that district not to commit violent crimes, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The pilot program is targeting individuals off a heat list developed by a Yale professor, who studied murders on Chicagos West Side between 2005 and 2010 and found a small network of people was responsible for more than 70 percent of the killings, according to the Sun-Times.
The letters warn people who have been put on the list that they will be charged with the most serious crime possible if they are arrested for a violent offense.

No, they're not kidding, but it is a joke.
I just hope all the crooks/vics stay cool when "the man" comes knocking at the door to deliver these missives. I wouldn't want anybody to get hurt.

Progressives write their own satire, don’t they?
Hope they don't write them in cursive.....
"Maybe the letters weren't strongly worded enough? Could we get the UN to help?"
"Next time let's use block letters, not cursive...

Blacks disproportionately targeted.
Hopefully they won’t be written in cursive.
This is like the UN before the Iraq War: “we’ll send you a UN resolution and if that doesn’t work, here’s another 100 resolutions.”
Instead of paying all those cops to hand out literature, just put up Gun Free Zone and Safe Zone signs all around the city and then two, pass some really restrictive gun laws.
That’s a pretty good blog.
I thought maybe Biden spelt the three letter word...G_U_N_S
Good reason to take guns away from everyone in the U.S.
Commenter Valannin has suggested they may try tweeting. He (or she) says:
After the letters fail to work, the CPD is going to consider Tweets to better reflect their recipients’ short attention span:
“@ Thugs We no who u r. Pls stop being bad ppl. This be your 35th warning #stupidideas”
Stern warnings. That should do the job. I know it always worked with me when I was a kid.(Riiiiiiiiight.)

Well, heck. If there's a Yale professor involved, it's bound to be a sterling success, right?
Probably be about as effective as court issued restraining orders!!
