The director of National Intelligence apologized in June to the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee for lying during a hearing, according to a letter published on the DNI website on Tuesday.
Director James Clapper appeared before the committee in March, where Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., asked him specifically if NSA spies on millions of Americans. Clapper answered, "No."

DNI Clapper Letter on Misunderstandings Arising from his March 12th Appearance Before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
Tuesday, July 02, 2013
Dear Madam Chairman: Because of the charged rhetoric and heated controversy prompted by my response to a question Senator Ron Wyden asked me last March 12th during an unclassified threat assessment hearing before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, I am using this direct means of communication with you to set the record straight...

And they will say that Snowden is a traitor for exposing this lie.
Congress represents the people. He lied to congress, therefore he lied to the American people, of which, I am a member.
I, as a member of the American people, do not accept his apology. I will demand his resignation and demand that he surrender to federal law enforcement officials, and unequivocally confess guilt in the matter of perjury.
Well if he apologized, it’s OK now I guess. /sarc
...give it two weeks - another rock shattering scandal will be spewed forth from the Obama Administration and everyone will forget this one...
Well, isn’t that special...
Sen. widen had given Clapper the question he was going to ask him 24 hours in advance.
Clapper could have answered honestly by requesting a closed session.
He lied instead and got caught.
So, when will we know when is telling the truth in the future?
I was wondering this last night...
What a weak-kneed people Americans have become.
In some ways I admire Egypt’s young people, in the streets, day and night, demanding their government not just change; but their president resign.
Oh I have thought about the pitfalls of something like that happening here and in some ways we have not yet stewed enough for it to boil over. In America’s case though, it will still be a progressive/socialist left verses liberty, even though the mob will shout for freedom & democracy; never realizing democracy is the language of their dictators.
Exactly. I was just about to post, “So he lied and he admits it. And?” And nothing. The left-never apologise, never explain. And do everything in front of the children and servants.
Indeed when your above the law one can pull it off.
And unless you’ve got more money than George Soros and want to give it to them, they’ll ignore you. Your one vote doesn’t count, they can manufacture votes like nobody’s business. Even real ones, if they promise enough gimmees to the parasite class.
They don’t care if the peons know. They’ll tell us what we need to know.

This administration seems to lie a lot more often than others in past history. Seems his czars get caught lying more than any other in administration ever has in U.S. history. I can see it in the history books now if the truth is tol. In 2008, the first black president was elected which resulted in the most corrupt administration and tyrrany to ever exist in U.S. history. The scandals will take up half the encyclopedia; the other half will chronicle his lies and outright deception on the American people and his Manchurian Candidate upbringing.
