So far you don’t sound like a libertarian.”

At least, then too, I neither sound like a Republican or Democrat, which both left me in the lurch, after Hurricane Katrina.

A lot of us here are not republicans or democrats, but most of us are conservatives, but some are libertarians and/or moderates.

“What does that even mean? How is that an actual, workable response to what I am talking about? I am talking about real life political activism for an immigration policy called for by the libertarians, and you respond with telling me about your wishful fantasies?”

You were pointing out the wishful fantasies of libertarians. I was sharing my own.

Workable? Can you point out some current workable policies on the border, immigration, taxation, etc.? Don’t we all look at the current situation and wish to impose our own ideals? They do to. Doesn’t mean they will get their wish any more than you or I will get ours. In fact, I can guarantee the specific statement by the party will never happen.

So wipe that away. My entire point in this thread is that both libertarians and conservatives want more freedom for individuals. Depending on where you are in each group, the definition of that freedom will differ.

No, what I was pointing out is that libertarians are part of the winning, open borders activism in America, in fact they are the greatest extremeists, you offered that silly fig leaf of ‘sure give us our open borders, (which is a real life political reality) and we will give the end of social programs and welfare,’ (which is a rediculous lie and politically impossible).

“”My entire point in this thread is that both libertarians and conservatives want more freedom for individuals. Depending on where you are in each group, the definition of that freedom will differ.””
“”On social issues, libertarians want the government out of bedrooms, pants, personal issues, etc. I agree.””

Like this? **“Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the government’s treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws.**

ansel,
You can continue to enjoy finding all kinds of things I disagree with. I’ve already given you my bottom line. With that you will either be content, or not. In either case, feel free to continue ranting on about that which I didn’t argue for. I still like you.

But you haven’t said anything, you just say things like you want more freedom.

Rather than repeating that over and over, why not translate it into what that means in regards to politics and the issues of right now, the major issues of today, this moment.

Why do libertarians stay so elusive and vague and slippery and work so hard to avoid saying anything?

I suggest you ask a libertarian...

You do realize I am not a libertarian??

Frankly, I don’t know what you are, you are so vague and evasive that it is impossible to make anything out, but it resembles the usual general defense of libertarianism.

Especially when you say that you agree with libertarian opposition to some unknown, unspecified, political element that is interested in getting government into “pants” and “bedrooms” according to you.

Eh, I didn’t invite you into the conversation. If I don’t meet your expectations, I’m ok from that. Chill. Life goes on.

You’ll have to clarify what you’re getting at. Clear as mud to me.

As your evasiveness keeps showing, it hasn’t been much of a conversation.

That libertarian, pants and bedroom comment for instance, all we can do is read between the lines to try and figure out what your true politics are.

Frankly, I think you have a communication issue. I’ve been entirely straight forward. I just didn’t answer according to your desire. I’m OK with that.

No, you are vague and evasive, that is why repeated requests for clarification go unanswered, you don’t want to be clear.

I will leave you with this:

“As an ordained U.U. Reverend, I suggest not fireworks, but sackcloth and ashes for this Fourth of July!”

When the Unitarians mourn you KNOW it has to be bad.
