‘Offensive to Muslims’: Dem congressman calls on FBI to take down photos of terrorists

Always-unfiltered Rep. Jim McDermott penned a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller Wednesday claiming a Joint Terrorism Task Force ‘Faces of Global Terrorism’ ad is racist.

McDermott, a Democrat from Washington state, voiced his “deep concern” about the ad, which shows mug shots of international terrorists, and asked the FBI chief to “reconsider publicizing” it.

According to McDermott, the “ad featuring sixteen photos of wanted terrorists is not only offensive to Muslims and ethnic minorities, but it encourages racial and religious profiling.”

If we were trying, we would be able to put some Sinn Féin, and perhaps a couple people who cling to God and guns on the list too - for diversity. How about Bill Ayers?

Seattle has a very large Somalian community, about 20,000 I think.

I see that Saddam Hussein’s buttboy, Jim McDermott is back in the news again.

He makes Charlie Manson seem sane, and it takes some doing to do that. But them again, he’s a hardcore leftist Democrat so what he says is normal in the political circles he travels in, say the White House, Eric Holder’s office, and CAIR.

One day I expect to see an alien pop out of his head and reveal his presence on earth. Or perhaps, an alien has ALREADY popped out of his alien body and looks like Jim McDermott.

I agree that our society will fail and our successors would do well to learn about the perils of democracy. You state it with refreshing bluntness in this age of egalitarianism. But I would also call attention to the related folly of "Enlightenment rights-talk" which has swept the post-Christian West. It treats truth and ultimate ends as secondary. Over time, it inclines people to think more about what we can do and what we like to do than asking what we would best do, and is a prime destroyer of "social capital." It also makes our system of law and our cultural norms ill-suited for one another.
