Seventeen years after the Paris-bound TWA Flight 800 blew up off the coast of Long Island, producers Tom Stalcup and Kristina Borjesson have released a new documentary –simply titled “TWA Flight 800” – that has the very real potential to re-open the investigation into the plane’s destruction.
Kudos, in particular, to Stalcup. A Ph.D. physicist by background, he has dedicated the last 16 years of his life to exposing what is arguably the most flagrant government cover-up in American peacetime history.
Borjesson has likewise been involved from the beginning. As a producer at CBS in 1996 when TWA 800 was destroyed, she sacrificed her future at CBS to get at the truth. Together, they have produced a documentary that is compelling, convincing and, finally, deeply moving.

The producers made two strategic moves to force the media to look seriously at their conclusions. One was to rely heavily on the testimony of a half-dozen highly credible whistleblowers from within the investigation.
The second was to avoid politics. When James Sanders and I produced the video documentary “Silenced” on this subject 12 years ago and the book “First Strike” two years after that, we made the marketing mistake of identifying the logic of the cover-up.
That logic led to the White House. Sixteen years ago, in the home stretch of a difficult re-election campaign, Bill Clinton faced a problem very similar to one that Barack Obama would face in 2012. This is something the media did not want to know, let alone share.

there could have been some islamofascists on a small boat off shore(smuggled-in rocket?)....or there was talk of accidental taking down of the plane by our own military who was off of Jersey doing war games or some such.
Granted, this is hearsay. But a very liberal acquaintance of mine from the east coast says it was a missile accidently fired from an Army Reserve base in New Jersey. She said the source was common knowledge on the east coast and they also knew Clinton feared the truth would ruin his re-election chances.

I think the even bigger story is the failure of the Media to pursue this, or similar, stories. They will only pursue these kinds of stories against Conservatives. When it comes to Liberals, they will try to bury, minimize or excuse it. Only when their credibility is at stake will they pretend to report it. The MSM has become like Pravda—they just parrot whatever press release their given.

TWA 800 was downed in July, 1996 during Bill Clinton's first term. This was just a few months before the election of 1996 in which he was re-elected.
If this news had come out that it had been a terrorist attack during the time of his "peace dividend" when the military was being downsized, he probably would not have been re-elected.
Also this news would have killed the airline industry and maybe put the brakes on the booming economy at that time.
We more than suspected.
Fact is we've lived under a Third World dictatorship for quite some time now.
Only difference is, it's becoming undeniably obvious as they become more and more confident that the game is over and there is nothing we can do about it.
Throughout history rulers have never lied. Just ask them (the rulers).
I think this story is what brought me to Free Republic where I foolishly lurked for a long time before actually signing up. As I recall it was the alt.current-events.clinton.whitewater Usenet group where I first heard Free Republic mentioned.
I suspect others traveled a similar path.
Those were the days.
Benghazi puts this in a whole different light. And Hillary was there for both, in it up to her armpits.

If TWA 800 went down because of faulty wiring and a center wing fuel tank explosion why didn’t the Federal Government revoke the airworthiness certificates of the 747 fleet, either the entire fleet or just those of the same lot number?
Remember the recent issues with the Dream Liner? And what happened there? And there were ZERO deaths in the various battery incidents.
Why didn’t the same thing happen to the 747s back in 1984?

It will do no such thing. Entirely too many Americans are leading self-absorbed, egocentric lives. Unless they knew a passenger on the plane, they could care less. Even if it's proven definitively that Slick Willy used his crooked pointer finger to personally launch the SAM that brought the flight down, nobody will care and nothing will be done.
