RUSH: I'll get to Obama and Germany. There were two things he did in Germany. He had a press conference with Merkel and he had a speech, the Brandenburg Gate. If you remember, in 2008 Obama went over to Germany and he requested at that time to speak at the Brandenburg Gate, and the Germans, boy, they were under a lot of pressure because back then Obama was The Messiah. He was making a tour of Europe on his messianic pilgrimage as part of his campaign. He requested to speak at the Brandenburg Gate, and the Germans said no. You're not yet of that stature.
So he got as close to the Brandenburg Gate as possible, and 200,000 people showed up. German beer was flowing. And the god echo in Obama's speech, you remember that? I mean, it was just all over the place. You know how many people showed up today? Six thousand. Two hundred thousand in 2008. Six thousand today. That's quite a drop. And you want to hear something humorous. Apparently -- and I haven't heard it yet, because, frankly, I've had other things on my mind today, but I've heard that Obama, in his speech -- not the presser with Merkel -- but in his speech, it kind of fizzled at the end.
Chris Matthews offered a reason why. The setting sun made it difficult for Obama to see the teleprompter. He couldn't see the text. So it was the sun's fault. Now, this teleprompter business, I have used 'em on my TV show, and I'm really uncomfortable with 'em. I mean, they're confining. You end up relying on the darn thing. They eliminate spontaneity. I'm not comfortable with these things. The only time I use one is when I have to have something just fit. Like the Morning Update, I use a prompter for it because it's gotta come in at 90 seconds, and I can't end up ad-libbing in tangents and so forth. And I can't edit video so I've gotta do it all in one take, but that's the only time I use a prompter. Because I know what I'm talking about.
If you know what you're talking about you don't need notes, even. Maybe just an outline to jog your memory, and then you go. But Obama, if you've noticed, he's lost without that prompter. And I know why. I know why he's always on the prompter. And that is to make sure he doesn't slip up and portray what he really thinks and what his plans really are. It's so Obama stays confined in the way that he has been marketed and presented, and he participates in that of course, and the way they manage, 'cause it's all about the Limbaugh Theorem. It's all about Obama appearing detached, unattached.
It's all about Obama disguising what his real intentions are. With no prompter and no discipline, he might actually let it slip what his real plans are, and that would be devastating. The fact of the matter is that most liberals cannot be honest with you about what they really hope happens or what they really want to happen or what they really intend to do, because if that ever happens -- and it has -- they don't win much. They're resoundingly defeated, particularly in national elections. So that's the primary reason for the prompter, is to keep Obama on message and disciplined so that he doesn't wander off and give up the game.
But we've got sound bites on all this, and we'll get to that.

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, I was just watching a little bit of Obama and the speech at the Brandenburg Gate. Two hundred thousand people showed up for an Obama speech in 2008. Six thousand today. Fox has a side-by-side comparison of the crowd side. That's not 6,000 people there today. What are they telling us? There's no way that's 6,000 people! That's not even a minor league hockey game crowd. There isn't any 6,000 people there.
Anyway, I didn't hear it, but supposedly the end of the Obama's speech today at the Brandenburg Gate kind of fizzled. It had no pizzazz, and Chris Matthews -- the sycophantic thrill-up-the-leg Obamaite -- said that it was because of the sun, the setting sun was obscuring Obama's prompter, and he wasn't able to see the words on the prompter, and without the prompter we he doesn't know what he's saying, apparently. What else is there to conclude? Well, we know the real reason he's on prompter.
They gotta make sure he doesn't drift off and reveal what's really on his mind.
END TRANSCRIPT
It was said that the sun was shining on his teleprompter and he couldn’t read it very well.
There’s a joke in there somewhere...
Not to mention Obama was drenched in so much flop sweat you would think he just discovered somebody was seriously investigating his background...
As I recall, in 2008 most weren’t there to see OblameA, rather the German rock band (can’t recall the name) that was scheduled to play immediately following.
Ich Bin Ein Tourister.
I saw part of the speech on Fox. Basically I couldn’t find the remote to change the channel.
The most uninspired, emotionless, monotone speech by a politician I have ever seen.
His draw in 2008 was the warmup acts . Used them all during his campaign.
First class groups that the people came to see for free.
It's standing in front of TOTUS, squinting.
Obama is a communist who prolly thought East Germany was awesome. He can’t speak of liberty being great since he doesn’t believe in it.
How many were bribed to show up for this non-event?
Was it my imagination or did I hear him refer to Berlin as the “City of Hope?”
It sure looks like this egomaniac has remembered for the last five years that he didn't get the Brandenburg Gate in 2008, so he goes there now just to prove he can get it? And then he flops the speech?
He must be a laughingstock behind foreign government closed doors.
KT is GREAT - she knows we have a useless communist in the WH!
sidebar- Today’s speech was invitation only. 6000 were handed out.
I don't believe that Obama has EVER appeared in any kind of international setting where he hasn't made a complete ass of himself.
I've seen television footage of Hitler parading about at one his rallies. Not the famous Leni Reifenstahl progaganda film footage, carefully edited, but "live" film footage as originally broadcast on Nazi state run television. Nowhere near as populated an event or as commanding a presence.
I saw the footage in a documentary on television history in 1930s Germany (they televised the 1936 Olympics as well).
We saw the photos of Obama rallies in 2008 how the crowds were roped into certain areas at public appearances so as to maximize the appearance of crowd size.
