The police made some significant errors. They should make an apology as soon as possible, and settle as soon as possible to minimize the damage.

Cr*p like this keeps happening and all we talk about is slap on the wrist of the Erring officers.
I sorry people, Yes mistakes do happen. But I don’t think these are mistakes any more. It’s deliberate and designed to make us fear the Police.

Violation of “Policing 101”. There should be one or more statist thinking cop(s) fired from that force in addition to whatever damages the jurisdiction ends up paying.

I see a lot of articles like this about Texas. It’s a major reason I don’t see Texas as a viable place to move.

Every story has 2 sides. Is their a video? What are the chances that a woman that produces an 11 year old that is already an accused criminal, might be fudging the truth for some cash?

McDonald said the Slaton Police Department will issue an apology as long as the mother agrees not to file a lawsuit. He said unless she is compensated for her expenses and the trauma she's been through, a lawsuit won't be out of the question. This police department screwed itself.

Now, if this were to have been a Muslim woman....
Seriously, this nation is having some serious problems. I don't see how all of this can end well. The police made a mistake, the responses about this are pure acid. Oh man....

Hire power-happy idiots to positions of authority and suffer the consequences.
I hope this lady tells the Police Department in what body orifice they can file their apology as she sues the crap out of them.

THEY are counting on the ignorance of the majority of our populace.
Also, minorities (esp) don't want to get tangled with law enforcement, even though some wrongs were done to them.
End result is the police becoming more and more tyrannical, and we live in a more or less police state. Constitution and our rights be damned.

This isn’t about “sorry”!
This is about teaching the Gestapo there are still CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHTS!
This is about some arrogant cop having his feelings hurt at having his authority questioned.
What the hell did an 11 yr old do to pose such an imminent threat?

These cops are trained to handle tough guys. My ex brother in law was one of these... So they go around feeling like they’re Chuck Norris, but writing tickets doesn’t satisfy the ego.
So they can’t help but pull out the muscle at times, even if it is on women or children or in situations where it’s completely uncalled for.
They’re like dogs bred for the fight game.

“They should make an apology as soon as possible, and settle as soon as possible to minimize the damage.”
Part of the settlement must include the criminal prosecution and permanent incarceration of the “officers” involved.
