A trio of Republicans in the so-called Gang of Eight huddled with leading figures at Fox News Channel on the bipartisan effort in the Senate to reform the nation's immigration system, according to a piece published in this week's issue of The New Yorker.
The story, written by Ryan Lizza, indicated that Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) had discussions with "top hosts" at the conservative cable news network, including Bill OReilly, Sean Hannity and Neil Cavuto, all of whom are " now relatively sympathetic to the Gangs proposed bill."

Well confusion is the medium they use these days to grease the wheels.
I saw Cavuto today per DVR and he did about 3 anti-amnesty bill segments, one on how illegals who committed multiple crimes here can still stay if they have relatives here. Another on the cost to illegals.
I saw some of Brett Bauer Special Report and it ran (paid) the Rubio pro-amnesty ad as a commercial not a news item, the first time I saw it.
It calls the bill a conservative solution, secures borders first, fines taxes, background check and ends with ‘lets fix this immigration mess now with a conservative solution’. Run by ‘conservative for a new future’ or some other dribble. Power ad.
Like I said, you can lead a FReeper to a statement, but you can’t make them believe it.
Har...
I actually said, you can lead a horse to water..., but I think the message is clear.
Take care Caww.
I hear you...and thanks.
Yes it is.
Boy they’re serving crap sandwiches around the clock to get this pasture-pastie passed, aren’t they.
Rubio is leading it. This is the biggest scam in the history of the GOP on its own voters and members.
Obama lays low on passing this bill while Rubio does the token criticism of Obama and tells Republicans that Obama will hate this bill and that he probably wont even want to sign it.
Rubio is insinuating just yesterday that he will place a ‘conservative’ bill on Obama’s desk and dare him to veto it , and that will hurt Obama soooo, bad.
I am listening to his words very closely. He is playing the Obama weasel word game on us.
It seems like it to me too.
I like the laws on our books today. I just wish they would enforce them.
You know this bill is bad, when you realize we don’t need it. We have good laws on the books. They just refuse to enforce them.
Thanks for the update. I think you remember I cancelled cable. I was just repeating another poster’s claim that Cavuto had gone bad. Maybe there was a pro-amnesty commercial on his show? I don’t think Cavuto controls that.
Has Brit Hume taken a position?
Cavuto was listed in the thread body above with the others which is where I assume you read it.
Cavuto’s #1 issues are the deficit and spending and so he is not buying Rubio’s line that illegals will pay for themselves let alone pay more for other stuff, Remember he has had Michelle Fields do a few segments on cost of illegals.
Rubio was on Cavuto’s show months ago and he handled Rubio with kid gloves as the others do. (I did a post on that one)
I long for someone who will just confront Rubio with what is actually in that bill and ask him to respond to each point(like EITC) . That is all I ask, but no-one will do it.
They don't want to offend him probably because they see him getting the nomination in 2016.
Mass deportation (even self initiated) is not happening. Hell, we cant even cut off the money to them. Maybe 8 years ago when Bush and MCcain pushed amnesty we could dream of such a thing, but no more.
Its been 8 years since then and they been coming and moving in and breeding for those years and the Reagan amnesty recipients and their kids are now voting and the GOP is terrified (Senate and POTUS level) . And Obama has already given them temporary amnesty.
No future GOP POTUS if we ever see one again, is taking the hard line.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Rubio gets the nomination after this if it passes, following MCCain and Romney.( if it fails then Rubio will have to convince Hispanics it was all Obama's fault, a tough sell.)
Anyone can be against 'amnesty' by the way, by simply defining immigration bill as not being amnesty like Ryan just did. Keep that in mind when you see polls.
‘Cept he said he was not approached by anyone. I don’t understand his fascination with Rubio.
She did run with McCain.
Not sure...
She's very much her own person now.
” Like the GOP, Fox is scared s***less somebody will say “racist.”
Good point.
” It calls the bill a conservative solution, secures borders first, fines taxes, background check and ends with lets fix this immigration mess now with a conservative solution. Run by conservative for a new future or some other dribble. Power ad. “
These people to me, are as evil as Obama. No joke!
My response to the charge of racism used to be that I was married to a wonderful Hispanic woman, and I loved her family as much as my own.
I am now separated from this woman, and her family members need to think I’m a slug to understand what she has done.
None the less, I still love them all. That’s life.
The fact is, if we were being invaded by Whites from Britain, it wouldn’t be any different. We cannot have foreign nationals flooding our nation to the extent assimilation is impossible.
I agree. It’s slight of hand. Look what I’m doing with my left hand, and forget about my right hand.
Evil. They are trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
Not workin’!
