Forty-seven U.S. senators attended a closed-door briefing with top national security officials Thursday to learn more about how telephone and Internet-tracking programs used by the National Security Agency have thwarted multiple terrorist attacks details that lawmakers said the general public will begin learning more about by Monday.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, said it is taking longer to release the information as top NSA officials work to ensure that any information released publicly is as accurate as possible.

Less than half of the Senate gets briefed, and now the NSA needs DAYS to come up with a list of supposed thwarted terror attacks? Count me doubtful they will tell the truth.
They are searching for a political narrative the MSM can use to bolster Obama’s falling poll numbers. Expect this to be something along the line of...see, we need all of your information in order to keep you from being murdered.
CBS started it this morning.
I cant say I came out with a masters degree understanding of it, but it was certainly a step in the right direction, said Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., after the briefing.

So why is Hasan protected, the COLE murderers released,
why are/were the Boston terrorists aided and protected,
and why cant the NSA find a single illegal alien or even
one (1) of the DHS-released 20000 felons?
Why? The same reason Obama is on his knees to al Qaeda.
Coffee anyone?
Circling the wagons and building the next lie.
Members in both parties are guilty of serial lies and corruption.
Accountability for all must happen.
Bad enough one has to refer to the enemy never mind linking them. Did wapoo name the senators in attendence ? That would be the only interest
I found 4 names of the 7 (Politico article) who were there to brief less than half of the Senate. Who the other 3 are, I wonder?
Give them a break. Focus groups and polling take time to complete and analyze - how else will they know what facts to invent? Isn't there an old liberal saying, "Rome wasn't destroyed in a day"?
Ooooh huh, THIS mis be the ‘briefing’ Obama said he gave ALL members of Congress two weeks ago at a press conference
That's what I'd like to know too. After all, I thought there were 100 Senators in the US Senate, not 47. Who is this gang of 47 and how did they get access? I think the real story is there.
Off Topic, are you from Hilton Head (news source from your link)? We were just there.
This is how the Bill of Rights goes away...through bureaucratic dictation. So far...they have moved on the First, Second, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments. These are the heart of the negative protections against federal tyranny.
Not that the MSM has much noticed.
I bet Rand Paul and Ted Cruz weren’t involved in the briefing.
Hey SENATE, OPEN THE DOORS!!
You work for WE, the People! Not against us!
No, just Googled to find info on the event ;)
As long as we live and die with the GOP...we will die. Because when push comes to shove today’s “conservative” politicians know that the NSA has the goods on everybody.
Look what they did to Patreaus...when it appeared he might not go along on the Benghazi story line.
We need a viable third party...the Republicans have capitulated.
Im on Intel, so theyre repeating stuff I already know, said Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), who left Thursdays meeting after just a few minutes and before some of his colleagues had even arrived.

Apparently Paul was there, per Politico implication (4th paragraph):

Behind close doors the Senators were reminded of the dirt the NSA has on them and were given the script they are going to read from.
