In a sharp escalation of the U.S. role in Syria's bloody civil war, the White House announced late Thursday that it will provide military aid to rebels fighting to topple President Bashar al-Assad after confirming that his government used chemical weapons on the opposition.
Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes told reporters on a conference call that President Barack Obama had heard pleas from Syria's rebel Supreme Military Council (SMC) for more help. "Our aim is to be responsive," Rhodes said, underlining that the new assistance would have "direct military purposes."

Not yet... the lamestream media isn’t talking up impeachment.
Well, this should take all the abuse of power scandals off the front page,,,,,oh wait, they never were there.
“This is DELICIOUS!!!!!!! Rabid Progressives who LOATHED BUSH for being a war monger...hahahhaha...welcome to YOUR IRAQ. Lets see...100,000 killed in Syria so far. 450,000 were murdered in Iraq if not more and they had chemical weapons used on them as well. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO this one is justified now? Yep....Obama has just become everything they said Bush was.”
Those “progressives” don’t see it that way. The TV Told them that McCain/Palin, and Romney were “Unqualified, and that whatever Obama does, it would still be better than what they would do.
“if Barry is thinking about it, it needs to be substantial, we need to win”
Nothing worth winning since the “prize” is another victory for Al Quaeda/Muslim Brotherhood.
I trust that Jordan and Turkey realize that any no fly zone enforced from their territory makes them fair game to attacks by Syrian allies. If Obama plays this right, he can get the Jordanian government overthrown, as well as cause more terrorism in Turkey. Obama continues his march through the Middle Eastern and North African states spreading death and destruction as he goes.
This needs to be repeated again. Jordan is already in an untenable position and Obama has been played like a drum. One by one the radical Jihadists have taken control and the next target is clearly Syria. Next up will be Jordan. I think Turkey will be more difficult, but the Jihadists are doing just fine at the ballot box.
Obama’s legacy will be far more damaging than Carter’s. This is insanity and we need to stay the hell out of it.
Who would have imagined even 4 years ago that we would be fighting on the side of AQ.
LBJ had his ‘Nam
Obama his own jam
May cooler heads prevail

Too disturbing for many people to accept. A lot of people may accept that we are arming Al-CIA-duh, blaming it on Obama being a "secret Muslim"(even though Britain, France, the Corporate Media, the GOP, the military and the intelligence agencies are totally behind him). 9/11 being an Inside Job however is a much more bitter pill to swallow.
Don’t disagree, that’s why we should stay out. No potential pro-American winner.
First where’s the money coming from. We are in the middle of Sequestration.
Second, its ironic the Regime which opposed the Iraq War is for intervention in Syria tho Saddam used chemical weapons on his citizens and violated the UN ceasefire.
Third, who the heck are we helping? How do we know which rebels are Al queda and which are not.
Not really. The contras hadn’t sworn allegiance to Al Qaeda.
It sure wouldn’t surprise me. I think there are deep dark places in the intelligence agencies which are in dire need of scrutiny.

Why can’t the Saudi’s arm their own allies? Why do we need to help the Sunnis against the Shia? It’s not our fight.
The flea-bitten dog is wagging ... little barry needs a biiiig diversion, so he declares war on Syria, a Russian satellite regime. This enemy regime of barry’s will get America in a world war if he is not removed quickly.
When will the Nobel committee take back his Peace Prize?
