Southern Baptists Plan to Leave Boy Scouts 'En Masse.'
Newser ^ | June 2, 2013 | Ruth Brown

(Newser) – The Boy Scouts of America's decision last month to allow gay members was made with the blessings of many churches and religious groups—but not all of them. And here's a pretty significant opponent: The Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant denomination in America with 45,000 congregations and 16 million members, says it will now urge its followers to leave the Scouts, reports CNN. The Boy Scouts says Baptist churches currently sponsor nearly 4,000 units, containing more than 100,000 kids.

The Southern Baptist Convention will vote on a resolution to disaffiliate with the Scouts this month, and a spokesperson says he expects 99% of people to vote in support of it. "Southern Baptists are going to be leaving the Boy Scouts en masse," he says.

I don’t need to take back anything I’ve said to an anti-conservative troll who defends homosexuality on FR. Are you sure you’re in the right place? Perhaps you thought this was DU? Put on the wrong superhero keyboard commando costume this morning?

Post #134, you lying POS anti-conservative Troll.

Bert: There is no need to abandon that which is good because of change. That is the cowards way.

Loyal and brave are characteristics of scouts, but apparently not of Baptists

As for the BSA, the more gay-oriented, the more the corporate donors.

If they're Catholics, I would urge them go get affiliated under the Knights of Columbus youth program, the Columbian Squires. Now would be a great time for them to mesh the BSA-style camping, hunting, fishing, survival skills strong points into their Church Youth program.

Silverleaf, the doctrine of the Catholic Church is always going to be on you side as far as sexual morality goes --- always. And you have to contend with sinners anywhere. But of the Catholic Church it can always be said, "The more Catholic it is, the more Holy it is." The problems will stem from many not being Catholic enough.

I would urge the Catholic Scouting people to leave the BSA and go get affiliated under the Knights of Columbus youth program, the Columbian Squires. Now would be a great time for them to mesh the BSA-style camping, hunting, fishing, survival-skills strong points into their Church Youth program.

Rules are, if you mention stuartcr -— or any other FReeper -— by name, you’re supposed to give him a courtesy ping.

Unless they’ve been zotted. Stuartcr was zotted for promoting faggotry.

I haven't done a real search, but the last comment I knew stuartcr to make about homosexuality was this:

You really think homosexuality is infectious? I always believed it was a choice. Raising your kids right, is the inoculation that would stop that choice.
Doesn't sound like promoting faggotryto me. He says it's a choice (which is what most FR conservatives say) and he says the right thing is to raise your child so as to stop that choice.

That was, I think, within the past week. He flipped to a diametrically opposite opinion since then?

(I'm asking in surprised and admitted ignorance, trying to get a clearer picture of what happened.)

That was one of his posts explaining why he supports open homosexuality in the BSA. His posts followed a pattern of supporting faggotry, and of verbally assaulting anyone who disagreed. He said that BSA is good for boys, even if it involves homosexuality. When i disagreed, he told me that if I didn’t agree with the homosexualization of children I shouldn’t be allowed to be a Scout Leader. One of his arguments in favor of allowing open homosexuality in BSA was that it isn’t contagious, and parents could raise their children not to be affected by aggressive recruiting from perverts. He argued that we should allow homosexuals unfettered access to our children, and if we are good parents our children will remain unharmed. If we don’t allow this destructive influence on our children, we are bad parents who shouldn’t be allowed in positions of influence over children, but faggots should be.

I’m not the only one who saw stuartcr for what he was. He wasn’t zotted for a single poorly worded post. He was zotted for his aggressive support of faggotry in BSA. His was the third such zot I recently witnessed on this subject, and I bet there have been at least a few more.

I was giving stuartcr a courtesy ping, after a fashion. Stuartcr has been zotted into next year. But if bert isn't his retread account then he's his long-lost identical twin.

Stuartcr was a long-term and rather clever troll. In his fifteen years on FR he never once articulated a genuine conservative position, but he mostly managed to avoid fully articulating liberal positions as well. Instead, he was a passive-aggressive PITA who relentlessly badgered conservative FReepers with leading questions and high-handed dismissals. He was anti-religion in addition to being pro-gay and most of his worst abuses were in the Religion forum.

And he really liked the word "sanctimonious". In fact he often used it as a synonym for "Christian" and even for "conservative". The game is afoot...

“Learning to love the sinner and hate the sin is the goal of every Christian.”

Correct.

However, can a child make reasoned decisions when confronted with an interesting sinner in a tent while camping?

If the answer is yes, then I respectfully suggest the “camping” is rather less natural and more unnatural - as in “unnatural acts”.
