You forgot Romney. We could have run a conservative just to mix things up. Maybe next time a Democratlite Republican candidate can convince a majority of conservatives that he’s conservative and a majority of voters that he’s not.

Since the early 1950s there have been 9 Republican administrations (Eisenhower X 2, Nixon X 2, Reagan X 2, GHW Bush X 1, GW Bush X 2) and 7 Democrat administrations (Kennedy X 1, Johnson X 1, Carter X 1, Clinton X 2, and Obama X 2); Republicans were reelected 4 times, Democrats 2 times.
