When you get right down to it,the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party.
Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. Ive taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election,as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide.
But there can be only one reason for the stalled-out approval process for conservative groups. The IRS was trying to put them out of business. Thus far, theres not one wit of contradictory evidence.

Watergate in 1972 was about political dirty tricks. So is this. Appoint a special prosecutor now. It will save millions and perhaps billions of dollars.
DHS is the new American Gestapo run by Janet "Himmler" Napolitano. More (worse) to come from her up ahead.
2014 could very well the revenge of the TP movement election.
There is no understanding or reasoning leftists. Its like dealing with a bully that looks you in the face and says “ I DID IT, SO WHAT. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?” We need to stop the pigs from destroying our country, but how?
The revolt begun.
Yes, I agree.
In case you missed it, there is no recall election of the president, even Obama. The process we use in America is called IMPEACHMENT. Charges are brought by the House of Representatives. Trial is held in the Senate with the Chief Justice of the USSC acting as judge. If he is convicted, the president IS removed. Then other charges, perhaps criminal, may be brought against him.
You can’t impeach a usurper. He was never president.
I asked the other day if any of this falls under RICO.

I am suggesting impeachment is ridiculous, and so are our regularly scheduled elections, which invite the shenanigans this administration. The truly clever have learned how to exploit our system and the system must change. Forget impeachment. You will never impeach Obama. Anyone who tries will be called “rascist”—which is how the demonization of the Tea Party began.
The sleaze at the IRS is only one tiny facet of the problem. For example, Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs has the goods on Lois Lerner's role in the Obama election apparat during her previous job at the FEC. As head of the Enforcement Division of the FEC it was her role to not investigate the mountain of illegal overseas money rolling into the Obama campaign coffers, Remember this sort of thing?
Our government is now riddled with these bolshevik termites eating away at the substance of what the Founders created.
I could not believe he “won” the 2012 election. Well, he did, but unfairly, and only because he had his minions clamp down on activists who turned the 2010 election against him. I have no confidence in anything done by federal officials anymore, and unfortunately, you are right about the free stuff— the welfare queens — and believe me, they are not all African-American — are so glued to the Jody Arias trial they have not a clue about what else is going on.
What makes us different and better is that we FOLLOW OUR CONSTITUTION. When we don't, we become as bad as all the other tyrannical governments. Let us keep the America we love, despite Obama.
Yes you can. He occupies the office, right or wrong. Thus he can be removed by our constitutional procedures. Keep that in mind.
Yes.
And don't forget the FCC threatening people too. Only the tip of the iceberg. Only the tip.
I am suggesting that the Constitution has been VERY effectively circumvented byt EVEN OUR ATTORNEY GENERAL. Did you HEAR the IRS officials thumbing their noses at it??? Even our Supreme Court has very little time for our Constitution. Something has to change. I love the Constitution too, and silly naive little me takes my oath to uphold it seriously. Don’t you get that we have a new race of “Americans” in federal government who SNEER at the Constitution? And that there is very little hope of getting any official body to actually APPLY it. I am very sad for my country today. We have paid so much money in taxes that the bureaucrats outnumber us and persecute us and we have very little recourse.
No, Rapscallion, I love your idealism but our “constitutional procedures” can’t be used to remove him unless PEOPLE APPLY THEM!!!! WHO???? Give me NAMES of anyone with the cajones to do this in America today. The Attorney General? Whoops, No. The Supreme Court? Whoops, sorry, nobody there. The culture of intimidation is complete.
REFERENCE In the United States, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act is a federal law that was enacted to give extended penalties in the prosecution of organized criminal acts. The RICO Act is codified as Chapter 96 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code, which deals with federal crimes and criminal procedure. Although it was intended to be used against the Mafia and others engaged in organized crime, the RICO Act has been used to prosecute all sorts of criminal activity.
The RICO Act was created as part of the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970. As a product of two sets of Congressional hearings that took place in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the act's main focus was on measures that would be prohibitive to gambling organizations. Sponsored by Senator John Little McClellan and drafted by G. Robert Blakey, the Rico Act was signed into law by President Richard Nixon on 15 October 1970.
Under the RICO Act, a person can be charged with racketeering if he or she has committed two of the 27 federal and eight state crimes under U.S. legislation within a 10-year period.
The law gives the government the power to criminally prosecute and imprison even if he or she has never personally committed any of the components of racketeering. This is because he or she is part of a criminal enterprise.
Lerner got a bonus in the $150K range and has now been appointed to run the enforcement division of Obamacare. You just can't make this stuff up. Remember, the IRS is armed and considered law enforcement.
