Bigoted, Religious [Zealots]‘: High School Senior Allegedly Expelled, Charged With Felonies Over Gay

Kaitlyn Hunt, 18, had her entire life before her. Graduation. College. Job prospects. The high school senior was just preparing to start her life when she found herself expelled and slapped with criminal charges over her engagement in a same-sex relationship. And what started as a relationship between two young women has snowballed into a legal battle that could land Hunt in prison.

The story has many twists, turns and oddities. And so far, only one side — that of Hunt family — is being told. The high school senior apparently met her girlfriend, who is now 15-years-old, on the school basketball team at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Florida; the two began dating at the beginning of the school year.

And did you see where it mentioned they knew and didn’t get cops involved until after she turned 18? This is not protecting their kid it is about getting back at the other girl involved.

Agreed. My point was simply that, heterosexual or homosexual, when the authorities get involved in situations like this, it is often not to protect the minor, but because the minor's parents dislike or want to get back at the other guy/girl involved.

My main objection with the article is that it is CLEARLY trying to convey the idea that the girl was expelled for her lesbian relationship. It is a deliberately misleading propaganda piece.

Do I think the girl’s life should be ruined for this? No, in the same way that I don’t think a heterosexual aged 18 should be flushed down the toilet for a consentual relationship with another teenager. However, this is all about placing homosexuality in a privileged position, not merely one that is equal to heterosexuality.

I was going to post something similar; my grandpa was 21 and my grandmother was 13. What constitutes sexual molestation AFTER puberty is largely a matter of cultural, social and political norms.

Yes, the girl broke the law. Yes, she is guilty of fornication. Yes, she does not deserve a special privileged exception because she is a lesbian. But, I have a hard time for dropping the hammer on anyone of this age for this type of offense. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I do not give a crap what happened upwards of 100 years ago. This is 2013, where such actions would be considered illegal (unless the parents of the 13-year-old signed off on it).

Did nothing, or tried to stop it and failed until they had a bigger lever? I would not be impressed with anyone of any age who wanted to have sex with my 15 y/o daughter, and I would do anything I could within the law to stop it. When the pervert turned 18, that gave them a more effective means of stopping it.
