Jay Carneys Waterloo: The White House spokesman flounders in front of a newly curious press corps.
By Charles C. W. Cooke
Thank you for that question, White House spokesman Jay Carney said feebly when, early in Fridays press conference, the issue of Benghazi was raised. And then he reflexively tried to recruit the questioner to his side. Look, Carney insisted, those darned Republicans are involved in an ongoing attempt to politicize a tragedy that took four American lives. Were not going to fall into their trap and ask questions of the administration, are we? Were not like those other outlets that are engaged in a pattern of spreading misinformation. Right, guys?

It is only going to get worse for Carney as this story unravels the preceeding stories too. Carney should resign immediately before he is indicted.
Mis-direct as opposed to answering question. The classic response of a liar. He I believe did nothing but only trying to defend the in-defensible. Like all of us working hard for a check and take care of family.
Carney the Carney knows Baghdad Bob wasn’t imprisoned (long).....
I’ll bet little J.C thought when he got into all this, his harmless lying and equivocation was a cute thing that helped his ideological bent and helped his employers.
I wonder if he ever really thought about whether his “lies” would be used to cover up the murder of Americans? Even one who was a “Democrat.”
Or, I could just be wrong and he is really the conniving lying sack of sh!t he has always been. What leads me to this side of the argument is his “special background briefing for reports that ‘matter.”
We were reading here on FR almost the next day what really happened there.
About how the SEALs calls for help were ignored and all there were abandoned.

“Or, I could just be wrong and he is really the conniving lying sack of sh!t he has always been”
That’s where I’ll put my money!
The Worst President Ever employs The Worst Press Secretary Ever to tell bald-faced lies to the lapdog press and the nation. Where is that scrappy bunch of reporters who relentlessly questions every Republican president, building mole hills such as the phony Valerie Plame kerfuffle into mountains to crush a presidency?
Today, many of the practitioners of state-run media are manning the water pumps to keep the sinking Obama presidency afloat by trying to spin his shameless lies into a rickety raft that can get them to a Hillary presidency.
I wonder if the special "background" briefing for only certain reporters was the final straw for some of the news organizations?
" Hell hath no fury like a scorned reporter?
an idiot who has outlived his usefullness...
I nominate Mo Dowd as his replacement. The picture threads will at least be entertaining.
You got it.
The main point was immediately obvious.
Gross dereliction of duty.
Everything that followed was deployed only to cover up that gross dereliction.
If you put Americans somewhere, you protect them. It’s not rocket science.
He’s dead meat, but doesn’t know it yet....
But that’s the problem with this libtard model—you resign, you get blamed. Why I say he’s in a pickle!
I wouldn’t believe Carney if we both saw the same event and reported in the same manner! The man has no honesty!
I can’t stand the little ass or listen to him anymore, just like his idiot Boss!
The ones that “matter” were big three and those print and cable and blog entitities that are in this for the duration. The rest (conservatives, honest outlets and those with scruples) don’t matter.
His resignation would add to the controversy. I've been pondering what must be an intricate network of leverage between the politicians and bureaucrats involved. At some point, Obama is going to have to sacrifice some lambs on this and several other scandals ongoing. Hillary? Carney? Gen Patreus?
Here's the thing. The scapegoats will either:
1. Have to be complicit in the rouge to play the fall guy/girl in hopes of future accolades, power, prestige and/or wealth.
2. Be powerless to stop it.
I would expect that many of the folks closest to the President "know things" that balance any leverage. Hillary would not allow herself to be the scapegoat and would turn on Obama as America's Patriot. It could actually help her if she takes down Obama. But you have to wonder, what must Obama have over so many of these other people that they won't protect their own careers/lives/reputation? Patreus had an affair and was booted.
I suspect the pressure is not high enough yet. Once the press starts going after the President on these things. He'll start assigning blame. Then the truth should start coming out.
With democrats the pressure doesn't usually get high enough because the media controls the narrative (Sandy Burglar for Bill Clinton?). Then Republicans become cowards.
I would like to see a special investigation committee assembled in the house with the most aggressive young Tea Party advocates.
