Andrea Mitchell: IRS, AP Scandals Among 'Most Outrageous Excesses I've Seen'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/14/2013 6:31:40 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

President Obama knows he's in trouble when Andrea Mitchell—Andrea Mitchell!—proclaims the IRS and AP scandals to be among "the most outrageous excesses I've seen" in all her years in journalism [which pre-date Watergate]. The strength of Mitchell's statement drew gasps from Scarborough and Brzezinski. Then Ron Fournier, former AP editor now with the National Journal, darkly described the White House being "consumed" if it turns out someone there or in the Obama campaign had been aware of the IRS targeting of conservative groups. It happened on Morning Joe today.

But hey, President Obama still has his hangers-on. Take good old Carl Bernstein. As we reported, on yesterday's Morning Joe, Bernstein blathered that he "can't imagine" that President Obama coudl be involved in the IRS mess. And there was Bernstein again today. When Fournier spoke of consequences of White House or Obama campaign knowledge of the IRS targeting, Bernstein quickly burped out that "we have no evidence of that whatsoever." Joe Scarborough had to remind the former Watergate reporter: "that's why you have investigations. You know that."

They act outraged at first, and then a couple of weeks later they start acting like it’s no big deal. That’s how that got Bubba Clinton off the hook.

So, she’s stepping away from advocacy based righteousness to works based righteousness?

Neither will work, in the end.

Like a criminal being distraught over being caught, Andrea Mitchell is only upset because this issue has become public. She is more than likely just fine with the IRS being used against people she doesn't agree with and she is probably confident that the only journalists spied on by Obama's admin are conservatives, which I imagine is also fine with her.

For all practical purposes the Obama Presidency is over.

It's all in the timing. From Team Obama's POV, best time to air the dirty linen is right now, well before the '14 campaign season. By the time the "Election of '14" rolls around, this will be ancient history, forgotten by all but us!

In the meantime, there's nothing wrong here that another 5 million Obamaphones, 5-year Unemployment Compensation, increased EBT, Student Loan Forgiveness, Mortgage Relief, 10 million new Hispanic registrations, and relaxing SSI Disability Eligibity Rules can't cure for them.

And hanging George Zimmerman on the Courthouse steps, too.

Andrea only becomes concerned about presidential wrongdoing that could impact her and her friends. IRS abuse and infringement of 1st Ammendment rights are a problem for her.

But Obama stealing $900 billion from taxpayers and slipping it to his pals and campaign supporters?
No problem in Andrea’s view.

Forcing two thousand independently owned auto dealerships out of business and killing 100,000 jobs while handing over biillions to his UAW labor union pals?
No problem.

Socializing healthcare by forcing Obamacare on the country and raising healthcare costs while reducing quality?
No problem.

Calling the muslim terrorist murder of 13 and injury of more than 30 at Fort Hood just a little workplace violence?
No problem.

Withholding security at American overseas installations on the anniversary of 9/11?
No problem.

Lying and misleading the public to cover up the muslim terrorist murder of four Americans, including an Ambassador?
No problem.

Hey Andrea,

This leopard's spots are as old as your crusty old husband.

What I find more offensive than Obama's conduct is the medias sudden outrage at his long established patterns of behavior.

It wasn’t that the media just didn’t do their job...they were complicit. Enemies of what is right and enemies of the Constitution ALL. To the gallows. These smug asshats need to enter the world of truth.

Flashpoints. The media willingly looked the other way to all of Barry’s lies, evasions and misstatements until it was THEIR ox getting gored. It’s too late to change anything, of course (nobody is going to suggest impeachment at this point in a presidency) but maybe the media will *begin* to show some fairness covering Barry from here out.

I don’t have my hopes up very high as that commielib instinct to circle the wagons is extremely strong but just possibly now Barry gets some harsh questions at his pressers and some harsh reviews on the networks.

hahahahahha, I have so much faith in Andrea I assumed in reading your headline that the “outrageous excess” was the GOP pursuit!

He probably has firewalled himself off from such depravity to maintain plausible deniability.

> But Benghazi? eh...there's no 'there' there...right Andrea?

Operation "Protect Hillary for 2016" is in full swing now, the press has chosen, as AP illustrated by all of a sudden complaining about wiretapping from last year.

A big forest fire is an awesome and destructive thing. It burns up everything in its path. Benghazi is like a big forest fire. It could burn up the whole Democrat party. So, how do you fight a big forest fire? You can drop water on it, but that’s just for show. You can dig a fire line, but a big forest fire can create its own local weather and jump that fire line with no problem. You have to start little back fires in front of the big forest fire. You can control those little back fires and they eat up the fuel that the big forest fire needs to keep going. The IRS and AP stories are important because they are indicators of how corrupt the Democrats are, but they are just back fires. The Democrats have set them to try and stop Benghazi.

It's become very clear that Obama is nothing more than a puppet who is in way over his head - really hardly even worth getting mad at. He doesn't make any decisions more important than deciding to congratulate basketball players on being gay. The terror and increasing Federal totalitarianism are coming from those who fear the public might find out who is really in charge.

This time there is “a Presidency on the Cancer”

You get an early nomination for "Post of the Day."

Maybe because these particular abuses hit a bit too close to home. Stepping on media toes and revenge-oriented audits are tactics that need not necessarily be confined to political enemies alone. Some liberals in the media may be finally waking up to the dangers posed by an administration which reserves for itself the entitlement to operate above the law.

Andrea .... Andrea ..... Andrea ....

Child, please. You have no right to be outraged since you were one of the ones who granted 0bama the coverage for these exact excesses!
