Actually, I believe that when he mentioned terrorism in his Rose Garden remarks, he was referring to 9/11 (01, that is, and the WTC). He speaks in such a stumbling, confusing manner that it’s hard to follow him. I’ll have to look for a transcript.
The House can impeach. They can impeach the AG for not appointing a SP when the House calls for it by vote. They can impeach the white hut crapper if they want to. But impeaching takes courage, something the republicants seem to have misplaced.

He was threatened in 2008, after the 2 people who were going to enable Hillary to challenge Obama’s eligibility at the Dem Convention were killed within a 2-week timespan immediately before the Convention. The day after the 2nd helper (Stephanie Tubbs) died Hillary supporter Phil Berg filed a lawsuit against the DNC and Obama. They were still going to fight. When Chelsea’s life was threatened both Hill and Bill gave up the fight.
I have a lot of problems with both the Clintons; they’ve got enough blood on their hands to disqualify them from anything good, but they meant to challenge Obama and gave it up for their daughter’s sake. This according to sources close to the Clintons, as described by Bettina Viviano.
It also takes a Senate with any semblance of honor - which we haven’t had for a very, very long time.
But whatever this select committee is - does it have some legal teeth? Can it subpoena and get search warrants, for instance?

Would a select committee be able to compel the deposition of military people that Pickering’s DOD put a gag order on? Could they subpoena and get search warrants?
Benghazi Coward B. Hussein Obama just now said at his presser that concerning the IRS Punitive Taxing Scandal, and the Benghazi Massacre Cover Up Scandal, that he would do the following:

Why, this punishment bypass technique could be used for all crimes!
No more jail time for bank robbers, alien illegal invaders from Mexico, gang and terrorist shooters and bombers, violations of the US Constitution by elected Federal politicians, etc, etc!
We could close ALL of our jails if only the criminal would promise never to repeat the same crime!
Just make sure to FIX THE SYSTEM BY PASSING LAWS SO NOBODY GETS PUNISHED, AND THUS THE CRIME WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!

ONLY through the unJustice department, IIRC. But the AG would be suicidal to block such requests. Doing so could get him impeached quickly and removed. Then a new one appointed by the pResident would have to go through Congressional approval ... BUT, IIRC, there is a Congressional act that functions just like a Justice department subpoena. I cannot recall what that summons is called, but it carries the weight of being jailed if the individual refuses to answer the summons.
Until the media makes an effort to be unbiased, these sorts of decpetions will contineu as natrually as fat Candy did hers so easily during the debate. She was covering for her little demigod barry don'tchaknow, so it was okay to 'shade the truth'.
There’s another interesting phrase in that transcript of Obama’s remarks from 9/12:
“I’ve also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world.”
