Bryan Zuniga took great pains to get away from a Pinellas deputy who tried to pull him over early Thursday.
Instead, he ended up in great pain.
After Zuniga stopped his 1995 Nissan SUV in the 7100 block of 78th Avenue, he jumped out and started running away, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

As the old saying goes, sometimes you get eaten by the alligator and sometimes you get eaten by the alligator.

Let’s hope this doesn’t set a precedent for traffic stops to be followed by other states.

The 7100 block of 78th Ave is Belcher Road - it’s right next to a Lowe’s. There is a man-made lake about a quarter of a mile west, next to the Publix ... there are alligators in there???!

I thought Floridians were always told to assume there are alligators in all fresh water lakes and ponds.

Gotta be careful with that. Low riders could get hung up on one. They are at least good for messing up your suspension. May as well hit a log.

Just about every body of fresh water in south Florida can be assumed to have gators.
I once lived in Miami in a gated community. There was a manmade lake about 300ft wide and from my balcony I once saw a gator pop out and take a goose from shore. It wasn't a huge guy, maybe 4-5ft long.
I think some of these manmade lakes have tunnels connecting them to other sources of water. The gators probably get in that way
