I know what that means to me but I am confused about what it means to others. The point of this post is to learn what being a Tea Party Patriot means to other Tea Party Patriots. I doubt I will learn anything that would alter what I believe but I cant know until it is learned.
Declaring I am a Tea Party Patriot means I favor a constitutional government. No more and no less. I accept the Constitution as the proper amount of government.
My believe is that the founders wisdom created a government with powers limited by the people to only those necessary to protect the peoples rights.
The words in the Constitution provide my legal right to demand a constitutional government and to demand the President, The House of Representatives, The Senate, The Supreme Court, Military Officers, and enlisted Military honor their oath to the Constitution.
Many violations of the Constitution already exist but no words changed to make unconstitutional legislation passed by Congress constitutional. I am within my legal rights to demand that my representatives in government abide by their oath to uphold the words in the Constitution.
The TEA Party stood for “Taxed Enough Already.” It was a group revolting against the egregious nature of taxes and turned into a party of conservative activism.
I am an advocate for Conservative Constitutional Republicanism in America, as the Founders intended. Sadly, I know some TEA Party people who consider themselves “social moderates,” advocating for loose drug laws.
The problem with Conservatism is the message. We need to demonstrate that we stand behind the idea the God has imbued us with our rights and that we are only answerable to HIM. Government is tyranny in any form, and we should eschew even the least egregious forms of them. Remember, WE are the arbiters of our future. Government exists by our will only.
I was at the first gathering watching Beck on TV, then in the core group of our local 9/12.
At one public meeting, I said our solution is to restore our right as citizens to the Grand Jury. We could indite the oathbreakersd and hold their feet to the fire. This nation would turn overnite.
It fell on deaf ears.
The Republican handlers took control of the group, and I left.
Low info Teapartiers are a problem.
General comment: It’s a pet peeve of mine, but I wish people would stop referring to themselves as patriots. To me it’s like calling yourself a hero. That’s a title others should bestow on you. Sure one can be patriotic, but ‘Patriot’ implies something more that just being patriotic. YMMV.
Now Tea Party American? That makes sense since the goals of the Tea Party are Constitutional through and through. To me, TEA means exactly one thing. A return to constitutional government in ‘all’ aspects. It didn’t exactly start as that but IMO it has become that.
Tea Party? Maybe it's time for the "Minute Men".
This is not an endorsement for "viagra".
This thread should be interesting, as I think your question is really good. I don’t attend as many events either, but I think that’s because there aren’t as many scheduled.
For us, the Tea Party is about surrounding ourselves with other patriots and using those contacts to take whatever actions we feel comfortable with, or can afford. Sometimes it’s nice to go to a rally just be around others who haven’t gone bat-sh!t crazy. We’ve done some caucus work, supported candidates and causes financially, worked a TP booth just greeting and talking with people, attended meetings, put up signs, etc. My fiancee’ is also a precinct delegate (direct result of TP contacts).
We also support military causes, as many other FReepers do I’m sure.
Being bad-mouthed by both the looney left and the GOP elite doesn’t help much. Too many morons actually believe them.
“fiancee”
Not finding fault. Trying to help you:

In the end the other conservative types just barged right in and the Tea Party mission expanded.
It's really a good thing that no one seriously tried to limit Tea Party issues, I believe it would have destroyed the effort.
The first Tea Party rally I attended had RKBA signs all over the place and I got the impression that the organizers were surprised, they had way underestimated the power of the issue.
NO BIG GOVERNMENT!!!...Libtard or Repubic!
I think you over reached your position advocating Conservative Constitutional Republicanism. I understand conservative and I understand constitutional but I don't understand Republicanism.
As a Tea Party Patriot, I seek constitutional government. The Constitution guarantees to every state a Republican form of government. I am satisfied with the Constitution because it provides America the proper amount of government. A Government with powers limited by the people is not tyranny; its a blessing.
2 Chronicles 7:14 is the fix!
I'm glad that you started this thread MosesKnows, because I have a basic critique against the Tea Party. I get the impression that a lot of patriots are not familiar with the reason why the Founding States made the federal Constitution, to limit (cripple) the federal government's powers.
More specifically, it seems that patriots want a concervative leader in the Oval Office to lead the country to resolve healthcare, immigration and schooling concerns as examples, and also to lower taxes, but seemingly not understanding that the states have never delegated to Congress via the Constitution the specific powers to regulate, tax and spend for such issues.
In other words, thanks in part to Obama guard dog Fx News, Constitution-ignorant patriots are unwittingly helping to keep the government power pendulum swinging back and forth between Democrats and RINOs in DC, instead of making it swing back to the states where the Founders had intended for it to permanently rest.
Wow. That works.
You have made it much easier for me to type “Señator Rubio”.
Thanks!
Low info Teapartiers are a problem.
I suggest you go to the next Tea Party gathering, the next, and the next until someone listens.
Republicanism is government by the will of the people. It’s root is “Republic.” We are a Constitutional Republic. We’re not a Constitutional Monarchy or an Authoritarian Democracy, we’re a Constitutional Republic.
Americans haven’t been in control of the reigns of power for over 100 years. The number of committees, sub-committees, agencies, bureaus, etc. have grown to the point that no group or groups of Americans could possibly make sense of it all not to mention the fact that a grand majority of them are wholly unconstitutional.
I don’t disagree with you that government by the people is a blessing, but the government isn’t limited by jack squat anymore and they’re showing us exactly that. The Founders specifically stated that Governments are instituted by men but are not and should not be the final determiners in any affairs. They are implemented to attend to the safety and security of the republic at-large.
What we have now in America is a Democratic Oligarchy. The people of means and money hold the power through elections which are generally determined by a simple majority. This was NOT how the Founders intended America to be run.
We should be electing the men and women from our communities to represent us and our interests, but with America growing to the size it is, the number of Representatives and Senators has remained unchanged for over 100 years. This means a static number of politicians answering to a growing number of constituents. This doesn’t work for much longer, and we’re starting to see the seams burst now.
A patriot is a person who loves, supports, and defends one's country. Loving one's country is patriotic, trusting one's government is just foolish.
I'm sticking with Tea Party Patriot.
I recall the observation.
America is at that awkward stage. Its too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. --- opening lines of 101 Things To Do Til The Revolution by Claire Wolfe
