Former first lady Barbara Bush said her son George W. Bush should be the last in the family line of presidents, rejecting the idea of a White House run for her other son, Jeb Bush.
There are other people out there that are very qualified and weve had enough Bushes, she told TODAYs Matt Lauer on Thursday from inside her son's presidential library.
When asked whether she expects Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor, to make a presidential run, Mrs. Bush said there are many worthy candidates.

Amen.
Is that his daughter? Looks like her. If it is wow she has really grown up into a beautiful woman.
I know what it's like to marry into a domineering clan. I love my inlaws, but no more family vacations with them. Too much walking on eggshells to avoid offending one of the clanmembers.
I'm now using my vacation time for my family. This summer, my youngest son and I are heading off on our own for two weeks. We'll be camping, hiking, fishing, and spending a few days with my sister and her family in Vegas.
July can't get here soon enough.
Stay out the Bushes!
Wow, did you even read the headline, much less the body of the post?
“Wow, did you even read the headline, much less the body of the post?”
Yes, I did. But I’m not fooled by these power-hungry people.
While he MIGHT have been a darling to Florida and national conservatives, Jeb Bush is married to a native of Mexico (the daughter of a migrant worker). And before you scream “ethnocentric bigot” at me, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. Love knows no bounds.
But that fact DOES predispose him to a warm and fuzzy feeling for folks from south of the Rio Grande.
And if — in some strange and metastasizing American desire to return to a royal family dynasty — Jeb or his son should win the White House in some future presidential beauty contest designed to divert the American electorate every four years, I’d bet that HIS activities toward this alien invasion will make W’s behavior look like a warm-up exercise.
Between the invasion from the south and the Muslim invasion, any vestige of European culture — the culture MY great-grandparents and probably yours brought here after standing in line at places like Ellis Island, being interrogated, deloused and recorded — will be a distant memory IF its remembered at all.
Bracing for FLAMES from the Bush people in here.
That settles it: he’s running. Not that there was any doubt after all the interviews, speeches, fund raising and fluffy reviews in Republican publications.
George Bush ... er Washington knows best himself....
Because she looks like George Washingtub....
I've been here a long time and I don't remember Jeb ever being a conservative darling. People were happy when he defeated a democrat to win the governorship but that's as close as I can recall.
“Shes the smartest Bush in the bunch.”
Yes, but technically she’s not exactly a Bush, is she? :)
Bar may be a pro-abortion RINO, but she is right on this issue.
No family dynasties!!!
Not a big fan of Jeb.
“Bush vs Clinton” again? That’s why we GOT Clinton in the first place.
Not just no, but hell no.
What you said, Barbara.
With a new college athletic sports conference which includes SMU, could this Bush end up being seen at Rentcheler Football Field in CT (UConn) in the fall?
Not I. It disappointed me so much to hear her say those things, with such snark to boot.
I remember people saying exactly that the first year GHWB ran. In fact I remember people saying it would be strategically smart to let a democrat win and take the blame for the inevitable disaster that is coming in the next 4 years.
