Several Republican lawmakers are calling for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings to be tried as an enemy combatant, rather than as an ordinary criminal.
It is clear the events we have seen over the past few days in Boston were an attempt to kill American citizens and terrorize a major American city, read a Saturday statement from Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.). The accused perpetrators of these acts were not common criminals attempting to profit from a criminal enterprise, but terrorists trying to injure, maim, and kill innocent Americans. The suspect, based upon his actions, clearly is a good candidate for enemy combatant status. We do not want this suspect to remain silent.
Their statement came after Dzhokar Tsarnaev was taken into custody and sent to the hospital Friday night.
[snip] America is part of the battleground, he said. If you capture someone on the battleground, they should not be given the privilege of a civilian trial where they are given different rights...
[snip] We continue to face threats from radical Islamists in small cells and large groups throughout the world, they said. They have, as their primary focus, killing as many Americans as possible, preferably within the United States. We must never lose sight of this fact and act appropriately within our laws and values.

Then let’s tack on the federal charges of denying someone the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. that is what will be required to fry this a hole.
McVeigh Bombed a federal facility and killed federal personnel. Hence, they were able to charge him with a federal crime.
Conservatives need to be a lot more skeptical about ceding power and authority to the gang in DC.
***
You are correct.
Oh I know the justification, but isn't an attack from foreigners, even though one is a recent "citizen" an attack on all of us, citizens and government included?
Seems to me, this is an attack on one and all, government included as they are "the people"
This guy will be treated no different than Dukakis treated Willie Horton
Horse manure.
The terrorist and enemy combatant committed federal crimes. What, you want him tried in a liberal toilet where he can't get the needle?
Go play in the street, Bunky.
“Im with you Lindsey, on this issue only.”
Do me a friggin’ favor and don’t be. We spent a ton of money and time to drag that SOB Graham through the liberal muck, expose him for what he is and crash his re-election numbers.
Stay out of South Carolina, InterceptPoint, and mind your own business.
“The trial will be a charade because it cannot examine and has no authority to act on the international and US security concerns. Having it even nullifies them. So why have a charade, unless thats how you make your living.”
I see two trials here, the domestic trial and a treason trial. (Realistically with respect to Obama I just see the domestic trial.)
Technically as far as non-baystaters should be concerned the treason trial is unnecessary, as far as terrorism is concerned as all we really need is the information about his foreign contacts to go after them. This information would be the fruits of an investigation(including interrogation) that proceeds a trial not the trial itself.
OK technically we’re both right here Ron.
He won an election and was one of the largest parties in parliament. He forced the president to make him chancellor and then he seized power...
The point is he got his foot in the door through “Democracy” and then usurped power.
Of course, Geoghan was white, Irish, and Catholic.
There will be repercussions for those who allow the central Asian Muslim to receive his due.
So you support a Communist totalitarian state like the one they have in China simply because it suits you at this moment in time.
How about we import the Communist totalitarian Chinese state you like so much and let them try and execute you for expressing free will on the internet?
This was one of the MAIN reasons (other than the intel) that I wanted him taken ALIVE. I wanted the libs to have that inner conflict of being against the death penalty...but wanting this guy DEAD DEAD DEAD.
Yeah...it's all nice and easy to be against the death penalty when it doesn't hit home...
“He should not be denied the Death Sentence either....who wants to give him free room, board, and medical for the next 50 years!? I sure don’t.”
On the contrary...perhaps we should deny him the needle and bill the Saudi’s for his keep. After all, they likely funded the two Jihad brothers
The War on Conservatives, Christians, Gun Owners and libertarians is coming in fact in many ways it’s already here in all but name.
Basically, your argument is that all U.S. citizens are the property of President Obama (or whoever might be president) and he can do whatever he wants with his property at his whim? [wow, you really drank deeply from the well of ObamaBushism. Scary.]
What's wrong - seems it's easier for you to tell others to face it - than admit you have no idea what you are talking about. You must be one of those liberals posing as a severely conservative.
Two? The other for the islamofacist jihadist in the White Hut?
Here’s the problem about his contacts/who he worked for:
If he doesn’t co-operare or talk then what? Do you want him beaten and tortured until he squeels?
Reading the Miranda rights is a distraction. He has all these rights anyway. If he doesn’t want to talk he won’t talk and if you beat him and torture him then you’re endorsing Obama being able to do that to ANY of us!
No thanks...
With 33% of the vote does not equal elected by the people for the people.
