The Story Behind the Photo, CPL Kendra Coleman I want to give back to the Soldiers who fight for my freedom and sacrifice their life for me, said AW2 Soldier CPL Kendra Coleman about her future. At 20-years-old, she knew she wanted to fight in the war on terrorism and joined the Army on July 25, 2007. She served with the 173D Special Troops Battalion, part of the 173D Airborne Brigade Combat Team as a military police (MP) officer and paratrooper. She deployed to Afghanistan on November 19, 2009, and her job was to train Afghan police and keep the local village of Charkh safe. On May 11, 2010, she was clearing a village, she recalled, I was hugging a wall to clear a corner, and after I cleared the corner I looked down. Thats when I saw a randomly placed pile of tires. I could feel the evil in the air. An improvised explosive device (IED) immediately exploded and she was knocked to the ground. I knew I was hit, she said. I reached down to my left leg pocket to grab my tourniquet. My pocket wasnt there, just the remaining pieces of what was my left leg. She is currently assigned to a Warrior Transition Unit and receives care at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) and Brooke Army Medical Center. WRAMC has given me my life back, she said. The medical care I have received here at WRAMC has been phenomenal. Now using a prosthetic leg, she said, I almost feel like me again. One of the highlights of her recovery was participating in a snowboarding program. I never thought I would snowboard again, but I did it, she said. I got back up on my boardit was an amazing feeling of achievement. With the assistance of AW2 Community Support Network member Sentinels of Freedom, she plans to attend college. They provided me a four-year scholarship to the school of my choice, all expenses paid including living expenses, she said. Coleman wants to attend Georgia Institute of Technology to earn a masters in prosthetics and work with other wounded warriors at an Army Military Treatment Facility. She hopes to motivate other wounded warriors to never give up, stating, Dont let the enemy determine your futureimprovise and overcome. By Tania Meireles, WTC Stratcom |
Please remember the Canteen is here to honor, support and entertain our troops and their families. This is a politics-free zone! Thanks for helping us in our mission! |

Good morning Pro ((HUGS))
Yeah, it’s THAT day again. So not ready for it. Glad you had time for R&R this weekend.
Our weekend was nice, sunny, coolish. Got some yard work done. But busy running to this and that. And still busy here. I’m at the point of taking a few days and go hide out in hotel on beach somewhere.
Mr. Beachy has a few movies he recorded he’s trying to catch up too. Me, finishing up another book and getting it to editor. Then another story. More busy days ahead for book events. Still busy here at work too.
Have a sunnytastic day.

Cape Tribulation
April 16, 2013
On June 10, 1770, British navigator James Cooks ship hit a reef off the northeast coast of Australia. He sailed the ship out into deeper water only to hit the reef again, and this time the collision almost sank the ship. This experience moved Cook to write in the ships log: The north point [was named] Cape Tribulation because here began all our troubles.
Many of us have experienced a trial that has seemed to trigger a string of other trials. The loss of a job, the death of a loved one, an unwanted divorce, or a decline in health could all be part of the list.
Even though a crisis may seem to be our Cape Tribulation, God is still sovereign and He most certainly is in control. It is His purpose to use tribulation to build resilience into us. James writes: My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience (James 1:2-3). The word translated patience means to have staying power or the ability to endure.
In the midst of your life-changing trial, remember that God is still at work. He wants to use your Cape Tribulation experience to build your character. He has promised His grace to see you through (2 Cor. 12:9).
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
Faith grows best in the winter of trial. Rutherford

I take this very personally, that is my home of record and my blood line. I was born in Hopkinton Massachusetts the home of the Boston Marathon. I used to attend it every year and it is one of the most exciting events in Massachusetts.
They have attacked my homeland and it hurts deeply to see it, the loss of life, the horehounds injuries are so sad. My Heart aches.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH!
Heavenly Lord, Please Hold These Slain And Wounded Innocents In The Shelter Of Your Healing Wings! _________________________________________________________________
The Twenty-Third Psalm Mahalia Jackson (Click)
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23 -KJV

REST IN PEACE, FALLEN BROTHER!
Spc. Wilbel A. Robles-Santa, USA 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division KIA Afghanistan 6Apr2013
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
"Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; For it is better for us to perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and our altar. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be." (1 Maccabees 3:5860)
God Of Our Fathers (Click)
Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace! We who remain hold you in high honor. Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct; We who remain keep this place sacred. Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades; We who remain keep the watch. Rest, fallen brother, among these who answered the Nations call; We who remain press the fight forward in your name. Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden; We who remain have taken up the torch. Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!
