National Security: The administration moves an advanced missile defense system to Guam because it knows a single low-yield nuke detonated at high altitude could send America back in time a hundred years.
The announcement Wednesday by the Defense Department that it would soon deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System (THAAD), a missile defense system inherited from the Bush administration, to Guam underscores the seriousness of the threat from North Korea, whose actions, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel rightly said, "present a real and clear danger."
This move comes after the Obama administration reversed its previous scuttling of Bush administration plans to increase our ground-based interceptor force in Alaska and the deployment of two destroyers equipped with Aegis missile defense systems, the Decatur and the John McCain, to the region.
Some observers dismissed it as familiar bluster when North Korea's 28-year-old raging runt, Kim Jong-un, signed an order for North Korea's strategic rocket forces to be on standby to fire at U.S. targets in front of a map that included Austin, Texas, as a target.
But other observers are concerned that a specific target may not be what the possibly imploding North Korean regime may have in mind.
The three-stage missile North Korea launched last December that also orbited a "package," which experts say could be a test to orbit a nuclear weapon that then would be de-orbited on command anywhere over the U.S. and exploded at a high altitude, releasing an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). That would fry electronic circuitry and the nation's power grid.

His Maximum Eminence managing the defense of the US would probably consist of ordering a strike on NRA headquarters and the Vatican. After that he would declare victory and go out on the campaign trail.
If NK does flip one at us, and THAAD or an SM-2 whacks it, the MSM is going to make it sound like Obama personally invented BMD technology. Reagan's 1983 speech will be stuffed into the memory hole.
It’s the matter of plausible deniability. If the norks do it China and Russia both have clean hands. Who do we retaliate against, exactly?
The norks wouldn’t notice if we emp’d them. Any any significant non conventional attack on the norks would decimate south korea.
Not to mention the loss of 90% of the population of CONUS. We’d be off the world political map, probably forever. China, Russia, whoever, could just walk right into CONUS about 6m after such an attack. With little or no resistance and no radioactive no go zones either.
An EMP attack could put us at third world status for the next 2 generations. Possibly longer since we wouldn’t even have a population surplus to market as a labor force.

All that chink in NK has to do is let Barry Hussein Soetoro ruin the United States and not one missile needs to be fired.
My only concern has always been in the case of an emp attack or an internal conflict (like CW2) we would be vulnerable to outside invasion or more overt infiltrations and exteernal interfernce. A giant reset button would be a good thing and rid us of all the stupid tv/radio propaganda and shows, video games our people have gotten hooked on as long as it happens on a global scale.
If anything, little Kim can attack the US and create the solidarity that we had right after 9/11.
But then... who could have ever predicted that an un-American commie muslim “God Damn America” extremist would be elected president just 7 years after a bunch of un-American commie muslim “God Damn America” extremists attacked the WTC and the Pentagon?
