Police: Shootings of Brunswick mother, son were random (update)

The shootings of a Brunswick mother and her 1-year-old son last week in which the boy was killed were random, Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said at a news conference Wednesday.
De'Marquise Elkins, 17, and Dominique Lang, 15, were each indicted Wednesday on a count of first-degree murder in the killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago.
Doering said it had been a judgment call about releasing the information that the location and victims of the shootings were random, but he said investigators are now comfortable in revealing that.

Farrakhan and 0bama have been trying to foment race war. The perps were black, the victims were white. If it were reversed, Jesse Jackson and every other professional race baiter would be there trying to stir up riots.

Its always “random” when two black youths kill a white baby..but had it been the other way around, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have demanded the suspects be charged with a hate crime

IIRC, a hate crime can be random.
I think the point here is that there was no relationship between West [the mother] and the killers which would lead one to believe that the death was premeditated.
As you may remember from earlier stories, the daughter of West had implicated the mother obliquely by saying she brought up the subject of insurance on the baby's life. This charge seems to dismiss any such notion.

Certainly possible. There's enough black-on-black crime to suggest that for people like this, it really doesn't matter... although I haven't heard too many black-on-white cases where the authorities actually admit it was racial.

of course it was random. Both defendants combined don’t have the IQ to conspire and/or plan any kind of crime. They just went out looking for trouble. And found it, big time.
