SEATTLE -- The passage of I-502 made things difficult enough for the humans tasked with creating and enforcing the laws for legal marijuana. Now, try explaining the difference between "personal use" and "intent to sell" or the gray area between state and federal law to a dog.
That's why many law-enforcement agencies around the state, including the Seattle Police Department and Washington State Patrol, will no longer be training their drug-sniffing dogs to alert for marijuana.
Moving forward, it makes most sense not to train dogs to alert to marijuana as that would likely lead to unwarranted investigatory detentions of people who are not breaking any law," said Alison Holcomb, author of I-502 and drug policy director for the American Civil Liberties Union.
The Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys sent out a memo advising the state's law-enforcement agencies that narcotics dogs are no longer required to be trained to alert for marijuana in December. And, marijuana was removed from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission's Canine Performance Standards test in January.

so let me get this right.
College kids came out in force along wiht some druggies, OK they voted and that is their right.
Now AZ, FL, SC, AL etc all enforce immigration fedral law and get sued.
MA ignores immigration law and nothing.\
Tax money used to promote food stamps in Mexico, and illegals set free
WA, CO ignore federal law and the feds too ignore this and say they have bigger fish to fry
OK got it, what ever goes , then goes, no rule of law then and they wonder why some don;t bother with the law
Yeah, seems pretty clear to me, too.
hopefully common sense and the rule of law will come back to this country because we’re heading into anarchy if not.
That’s a cool picture ;-)
So they won’t mind when millions of us ignore their stupid gun laws.
Breakdown of society. As planned. There is no right or wrong — there is just the big boss man.
Yep, you’ve got it. There’s no rule of law in America anymore. Just look at sanctuary cities, for example. This imbalance will ultimately lead to moral justification of vigilanteism.
ah see here is the crux.
The feds right now with this admin only pick laws they want to enforce and then sue others who do enforce the laws they ignore.
Guns is not what they like so they want them banned even though it;s law to have them and it;s a constitutional right, some how the right to happiness to the founders wasn;t getting high or being a druggie , though I;m sure a liberal tarian will tell me other wise [yawn]
they;re suing states which enforce their laws, ignore states which ignore their law on immigration and drugs, hell they even let illegals go and promote food stamps in Mexico.
We might as well close our neighborhoods, set up barricades and have states just leave the union now.
After all there is no laws
When law becomes “flexible,” we descend into the rule of men and not law.
a very good line, hope you do not mind me using this in the future
Indeed.
I honestly don’t know if it will be any worse than a loud booze party at 3:00 AM — had to endure that a few weeks ago.
First legal MJ comes out here in WA at end of year — only 1 oz per person, no home growing and very expensive. Am curious to see how prevalent use really will be.
Anyone: Pardon my ignorance but is one ounce like one session for one person? I have no idea.
Cool shot.
Sure. I doubt it’s my original....
I asked my sister if MJ becomes legal what would you do, you wouldn't be able to have the cops take care of it.
There's were we are headed. Soon enough we will be fighting city hall to pass bad stench ordinances.
What happened to the old adage about do what you wanna do as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else?
It depends on how much you’re forced to inhale. You might find that you need to buy munchies. ;>)
Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean that you should be forced to breath that crap... I’d either tell them to knock it off or call the cops. They will likely treat it like a loud music complaint.
Fortunately, I live in the sticks, so I don’t have to worry about it blowing onto my property.
