Senators voted Wednesday to keep the White House closed to public tours, turning back a GOP-led effort to free up money to open the building back up after the sequesters.
The vote was just one of a series of high-profile votes the Senate was taking Wednesday afternoon as it plowed toward passage of a bill to fund the government through the rest of this fiscal year

Where the hell are the commercials taking the Assclown to task for such stupidity??? Huh?
You know darn well the MEDIA isn’t going to cover this crap. They bow their KNEES to the Clown.
about to say the same, the obama’s are just fine that the people can;t get into our house as they now think it;s their house.
How they must be loving the full range of our house dring the days now, hell I wonder if they are doing contruction there, not like we’ll fnd out right now.
AND WHY HASN;T THE GOP MADE MORE OF A SONG AND DANCE OVER THIS?
thta was my thought too, the people’s house is closed to the people as this family thinks of our osue now as their house and we still have dopes on our side or so called our side saying this is no big deal.
It;s costs next to nothing and there is many ways for the people to see the inside of their house by moving some waste money , plus I wouldn;t be surprised to know there is construction going on and the obama’s are using this as an excuse
course he has a right and it;s our house ot their’s.
Who the hell does the obama’s think they are by not letting the people see the sinside of their house anyway?
Republicans should be making more noise about this not frigging less
The problem is Presidential death. The numbers of presidential death threats must be astronomical.
Securing the White House ,like food tasting over on Capitol Hill can be taken to mean the man is scared, badly scared for his worthless hide
my question too.
Why isn;t the GOP maing more nosie and making AD’s, hell the cuts have hurt him so keep this up and even not about cts then they have no right to close the peoples house
The GOP bill was not a spending bill, but rather it gave the Executive Branch greater flexibility to deal with the sequester including identifying unused funds in various accounts. The sequester cuts still go forward.
Closing the WH tours and parts of Yellowstone Park, slowing down meat inspection, delaying the deployment of carriers, etc. are the tactics of this despicable Administration. The GOP is just making that obvious to low information voters, but they have clearly failed in your case.
maybe if they weren’t spending money for a study on duck dicks they would have the money.

Hasn’t stopped dear leader from spending our money. Something very wrong in the USA as we sit idly by.
Oh, puhleeeeeze!
Have you actually bought Obama's line that White House tours must go and there's absolutely, positively not another single place we can cut? C'mon, of course, we have to cut -- about a trillion and change a year.
But we do not have to cut White House tours. This one's a winner for the Republicans. Public perception matters.
Since she IS common, I’d say no one wants us to see how OUR house has been trashed by these lo-lifes.
I heard on the radio that the person who is in charge of the tours get’s 100,000 per year and that the others are volunteers.
Also there are two calligraphers and one head calligrapher. For a total of about $290,000.
Was there any thing easier for the senate dems to disagree with OB than this vote. A chance to make some people happy with ittle political consequence.
OB said on TV he was looking into the closing of the tours. I guess he made his decision.
“...You know darn well the MEDIA isnt going to cover this crap. They bow their KNEES to the Clown....”
It just amazes me to what extreme the left wing media, liberal pundits, etc. will go to cover up and protect the outright failures of this president of color. They are doing everything they can to cover up for his failures in a manner that no blame comes to him so that he looks like a success. However, we ALL know the failures. They are not fooling anyone but themselves.
Face it, liberals: Obama is a failure. Might as well belly up to the bar and admit it. Get it over with, you’ll feel better then.
gotta keep the satanic alter hidden from view
To learn more about Benedict Arnold, related historical novels by Kenneth Roberts are Arundel and Rabble in Arms.
don’t worry the left knows that the MSM will cast blame on the GOP for it anyway
Partly because it's the PEOPLE'S house, and the cost of keeping the White House open for tours is utterly insignificant in the US federal budget.
The cost of allowing us commoners into the White House is almost exactly ONE ONE-MILLIONTH of what the federal government is spending.
Or, to put it another way: You're a family with $50,000 a year in income. You're over budget. You need to stop spending so much.
The cost of keeping the White House open to the People, on the scale of a family budget of $50,000 a year, is a nickel PER YEAR. Five lousy cents.
I'm all for saving money. BELIEVE me, I'm all for saving money. REAL money.
But there are REAL places to do it, and REAL amounts to save. Not shutting down the White House and making the People suffer, and slimily trying to blame it on Republicans and conservatives.
That short sentence says EVERYTHING.
The Republicans think these so called "little things" are not that important in the BIG picture.
That's WHY they're always chasing their ass. These so called "little things" are, if trumpeted LOUD and CLEAR resonate FAR & WIDE with most Americans.
As usual, the Repubs are extremely adept at MISSING the MOMENT and totally pi$$ing away yet another opportunity to gain ground.
Further validation of the ineptness that helped them LOSE the 2012 Presidential election.
Yep, full on bunker mentality!
Title 18 United States Code section 209 makes it illegal to accept compensation for federal salary or to pay someone over and above their federal salary. Federal wages and salaries are to only be paid by the government.
Since this statute appears in the bribery section of the law, I figure it was put there to ensure someone getting bribed did not say they were paying someone’s salary! Of course intent and what is it used for are two different things, witness the RICO laws where laws originally intended to knock out organized crime have been extended to other groups and matters.
It is as close to what you ask for as I can find. Whether it is actually prosecutable or not, it would at least cause someone some grief in this instance to pay someone IMO.
