Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, suggested raising the minimum wage to $22 per hour is only logical if you look at the numbers.
If we started in 1960, and we said [that] as productivity goes up then the minimum wage was going to go up the same if that were the case, the minimum wage today would be about $22 an hour, the senator said, at a recent Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing on Keeping up with a Changing Economy: Indexing the Minimum Wage.
The current minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. Ms. Warren wondered, in a YouTube video of the hearing posted by her staff: What happened to the other $14.75?
She answered her own question: It sure didnt go to the worker.

You nailed that.
Not true if she is talking about value added per hour of labor rather than value added per dollar of labor. In any case, it’s pointless, meaningless, she doesn’t use numbers to enlighten, only as rhetorical device to increase the size and scope of government.
during the crash, many of the purged employees were actually dead weight do nothings who were useless to business.
22, WHAT, can we please get common sense back to this country?
Hell this party can;t even call them what they are, no theyr;e not liberals, or progressives, they;re socialists and communists
The fences to keep companies in the state aren't built yet.
Sorry, it hurts my head to try and think like a liberal. My logical brain keep getting in the way.
I call Miss Wigwam’s $22/hour and raise the proposal to $750/hour. If, according to this socialist idiot’s economic worldview, there are no consequences to raising the minimum wage other than benefitting the workers, why not be stingy?
When the unemployment rate goes to 99%, she’ll blame it on greed rather than her commie economics.
She’s just too stupid to know that she’s putting the very people out of work who only qualify for relatively low/minimum wage jobs.
You, of course, are right again. And I am not down on all the human beings residing in Massachusetts. Just their elected officials. All of them. Every last one.
But I’ll swap you Lynnsy Graham for Elizabeth Warren any day. I think she’d be fun as a South Carolina Senator. Lynnsy ain’t.
If the minimum wage is $22 an hour ... how much would it be per hour to NOT work? Half the population cares more about this number than minimum wage.
Raise the minimum wage to whatever you want. Just remember that those earning that minimum wage won’t be able to afford to buy anything, because the cost of everything will be pushed up beyond their reach.
Sadly, that will also include all the people who were worth that salary before the minimum wage was raised.
Rather than help grow the middle class, it would destroy much of it.
And a pony!!
How could you forget the PONY!!!
and the yut unemployment rate will raise to ???
See post 8
Good to see you DoughtyONe, you missed all the CPAC discussions.
I agree. The minimum wage should be tied to Congressional Salary and Benefits. She is a damn genius!!
Typical liberal a$$hole. They have no clue what it is like to run a business. In their “minds” all businesses exploit workers and the government must take them over.
In communist dogma, all the means of production must be in the hands of the government.
Granted, the faux Squaw does afford a certain amount of amusement value, but the game isn’t worth the candle.
So, the guy standing on the corner wearing headphones and waving a sign for pizza or apartment rentals is worth $22/hr? Damn, she’s dumb.
Figured so.
