Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, suggested raising the minimum wage to $22 per hour is only logical if you look at the numbers.
If we started in 1960, and we said [that] as productivity goes up then the minimum wage was going to go up the same if that were the case, the minimum wage today would be about $22 an hour, the senator said, at a recent Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing on Keeping up with a Changing Economy: Indexing the Minimum Wage.
The current minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. Ms. Warren wondered, in a YouTube video of the hearing posted by her staff: What happened to the other $14.75?
She answered her own question: It sure didnt go to the worker.

It’s no wonder that I have to wear a night guard to keep from grinding my teeth to dust.
LOL! I’d give her some beads of sweat cuz I’d bet she’s never seen any.
Taxes of that are about 15 bucks.
i.e. Government money laundering.
One of my friends swears that Obama said during the SOU speech that we were going to keep raising the minimum wage until it because the average wage in the country. Kind of impossible to ever quit raising it, if that is your logic.
Should read: Warren wants to raise unemployment to 35%.
I dare her to take her congressional salary, start a business, pay her unskilled employees that wage, and keep the doors open for the length of her term of office.
LMBO!!
I’ll bite.
Go ahead and raise minimum wage but only if a flat tax is implemented with no exceptions.
Everyone, and I do mean everyone, pays the same percentage of their income.
Even those on public assistance.
“Taxes of that are about 15 bucks.

Bingo!~
Hope she doesn’t go on the warpath over this.
Uhhhh, Liz - it wages rise proportionally to production then you haven’t increased productivity. It takes a Harvard grad to miss something that obvious.
Okay then; let’s raise the minimum wage to $22/hr and set a maximum of $22/hr for all elected or appointed public officials — with no overtime permitted. Fair trade-off?
She's a liberal. They're all so completely self-centered that they only care about buying votes to win themselves one more term. They will turn America into the Titanic in the process, but that's immaterial as long as they don't have to find real jobs.
And when that becomes a reality, there's no way any American could conceivably take 5 weeks vacation on their current salaries. American was built on the middle class. There's no reason that every working American shouldn't be making a middle-class income. Since we know that libdems consider rich to be those who earn $250,000 per year, a fair compromise would be to mandate a federal minimum salary of $100,000 - middle way between impoverished and rich. Then they would be able to afford their living expenses and their 5 weeks of vacations.
And a Beemer. Everybody needs one.
And a house in the suburbs.
And a high end cell phone
And broadband internet.
And a 80 inch flat screen
Yep...A good many minimum wage workers in fast food joints can’t even make change thanks to our public education system, they have registers that do it for them.
A lot of people cannot command $22/hour in a competitive labor market, but a lot of work that pays considerably less will still be done for $22. Just less of it. Public bathrooms will be dirtier, lines will be longer at cash registers and no one will understand why. Business hours will be reduced.
Lawns will be less well maintained, amusement parks will close, second hand thrift shops will be staffed only by their owners, if they stay in business at all.
The net effect will to lower everyone’s standard of living and aggregate U.S. productivity. Unemployment will sky rocket.
When this occurs, it will be called “bad luck”.
Robert Reicccche has wanted a 20 dollar minimum wage for DECADES.
The political class hates small business because they can’t control small business. Force all to mega corporations and then they only have to deal with a few limited, controlable, and easily dominated funding sources. shutting out all others.
