Ain’t she, though?
One last one before I call it a night. This is a studio performance from 1968 with remarkably good audio-visual quality, don’t know whether it’s restored, remastered or what but it’s nice.

Next Lonely Man
~ Drumbo Thunder & Thunderstruck ~
Night streets are dark and stoney
When you've got no shoes on your feet.
Day streets are drab and lonely
When the sun shuts off it's heat.
Well the people passin' they don't really care
Cause they're lost in their own world.
Don't you mess with them, don't you get in their hair
Or you'll be sorry son, that's the word.
You know you don't have the time to fight
And you don't think that it's right
So you stick out your hand to the next lonely man
And it looks like he's ready to fight.
Dark nights are full of surprises
When you've got no where to go,
Bright lights distort peoples sizes
Don't forget who's fronting the show.
There's danger in the air tonight
There's fireworks ready to crack,
Don't set off no fuse, don't get in the way,
Or you'll be sorry son, that's a fact.
You know you don't have the time to fight
And you don't think that it's right
So you stick out your hand to the next lonely man
And it looks like he's ready to fight.

Me and My Guitar
~ Drumbo Thunder & Thunderstruck ~
Shufflin' papers from nine to five,
Fighting rush hour traffic.
Sometimes I wonder, am I really alive,
Or am I just trying to fake it?
Then comes the night with the noise and the light
Callin' to me and my guitar.
I'm wading into it without a fight,
I just jump in and jam at my favorite bar.
Now I can see what I'm really all about,
Here's the chance to show who I am.
I nail it, I wail it, I scream and I shout,
I slay'em with my heavy metal jam!
Then comes the night with the noise and the light
Callin' to me and my guitar.
I'm wading into it without a fight,
I just jump in and jam at my favorite bar.
Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm bad,
But baby you know I do the best that I can.
I'm playin' all my songs wishing we could be alone,
C'mon sweety let me take you home.
Then comes the night with the noise and the light
Callin' to me and my guitar.
I'm wading into it without a fight,
I just jump in and jam at my favorite bar.
Oh-oh Playing all night,
My guitar screams here I go.
Oh-oh - playing it right,
Livin' out my dreams blow by blow.

Gary Lewis was the son of Jerry Lewis, and he had started as a drummer in a band consisting of his friends, who were so late to rehearsals that he dubbed them the playboys. It was bandleader Les Brown who introduced producer Snuff Garrett to Lewis at a Disneyland gig. Garrett got Buddy Rich to tutor him on drums but ended up making Gary lead singer. His voice was weak and Garrett used overdubbing to make his voice sound fuller. This song came in at #2 on March 9, 1965 and was the first of a string of hits. Thats Leon Russell on keyboards and Hal Blaine on drums.

I went though a tornado once with Doyle Bramhall Sr and Marcia Ball.
There was nothing to do but rock and improvise.
It was grand.
