The sinkhole is about 350 miles away near Tampa. Florida is not a big state (Like Alaska, hahahaha!) but it is VERY Long. I live near Ft. Lauderdale and can get to the Gulf of Mexico on my Harley in an hour or so. But Tampa(north AND across) is a 5 hour ride at least.

Sinkholes happen around here too, but the Everglades behaves like a huge Sponge and keeps the land “hydrated”. There is a massive system of coral caves and tunnels under the state which provides us with fresh water. The tunnels are so scary and dangerous that nobody is allowed “down there” without very special permits. It is an incredible natural wonder and one of the state’s best-kept secrets. (OK, so NOW it’s not a secret! hahaha) If there is a severe drought, and the water level goes down, the fragile empty caves can’t support the land above and a sinkhole happens. That’s why we have a lot of them in Florida.

Prayers up for the folks who have been affected by this disaster. I can’t even imagine how awful it must be.

Linda and I will check out the Yard Sales this morning, but it is very chilly and windy, so there will probably not be too many. Still, we will have a nice ride together.

He always talked about joining,but never followed through.He made the announcement right before Christmas and a week later he took the test.The recruiter told him that he passed the test with the highest score he has seen in a long time.
Now he is anxious to have the surgery to get his tattoo removed.
