Americans will never surrender their lust for guns.
Written by Lewis W. Diuguid
For a lot of people, one is never enough and bigger is always better. That includes magazines that hold more rounds. The .22-caliber, bolt-action rifle that I learned to shoot at age 11 as a Boy Scout is insufficient.
The revolvers my grandfather carried every day to his job as a railroad brakeman and that my dad inherited are so 19th century. Todays firearms have to give law-abiding gun owners a bigger advantage over bad guys.
That lust for guns is why President Obama will find it tough getting Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, expand background checks and implement tougher gun-trafficking laws.
Liberal gun laws enable gun owners to be licensed to carry the weapons concealed, and some cities let people openly carry firearms.
The U.S. ranks No. 1 globally in private gun ownership, with 270 million guns in civilian hands, or 88.8 firearms per 100 people. U.S. law enforcement officers only have 897,400 firearms; the military, 3.1 million.
Americans are as addicted to guns as smokers are to cigarettes; as adults are to beer, wine and hard liquor; as gamblers are to slots, lottery tickets and the roll of the dice; and as most of us are to our cars, boats, campers and trailers.
That unwavering attachment to guns should make every gun and bullet subject to federal, state, county and municipal taxes in addition to sales taxes. Think of the bonanza governments could reap.

If the shtf, journalists should be high up on the target list.

Oh, please.
the number of people who have a "lust for guns" is probably comparable to the number of people who have a "lust" for stamp-collecting, or scrapbooking or some other hobby.
Most of us have a lust for freedom, though.
Good idea!
Do you know where I can find any?
according to this moron, if taxing guns will lower gun ownership, doesn’t taxing prosperity lower prosperity?
Whoever said “the power to tax is the power to destroy”
was certainly on the money.
One look at him and you can just see what a damned socialist he is.
the media puts up the straw man of car regulation, drivers licenses, pilot license etc.
The second amendment is a fundamental INDIVIDUAL RIGHT, whereas a driver’s license (as judges are so fond of saying) is a priviledge not a right.
these politicians really do believe they are not bound by the rule of law. They are the law until a judge says otherwise and even then the politicans believe they can “tweak” the bad law with magic words to achieve the same result.
If public service is a priviledge not a right, then politicans should be required to pass basic law competency tests before they can take their seats EVERY TIME they are elected for ANY office.
What a hateful think to say. Apparently, because I'm an adult, I'm addicted to beer, wine, AND hard liquor.
Go peddle your hate somewhere else, Lewis.
Taxing guns is an infringment! It is an INFRINGMENT!!! It is Leftist Terrorism against the Constitution. Call these attacks on the Constitution what they are...Treason. TREASON!!!
Where did they find that idiot?
Neither property nor guns should be taxed. Why should you pay taxes on something just because you own it? Even when you pay off your mortgage you still have to pay rent to the state in the form of property taxes.
That is the truth. The issue we have is with low info voters, I say by design. I don’t think these little tyrants would of got away with what is happening now 30 years ago. A lot of people are only worried about the government hand out or who is coming out with a new phone, etc.
I think that this is all by design. It is just a matter of time as to when us frogs in the pot of slowly boiling water get out or cook.

“I suggest we tax journalists.”
Add this Urinal-ist to the list to be taxed.
This mope says that all “Habitual gun users” should be taxed.
An Ammunition Tax Wouldn’t Stop Mass Murders but Could Save Many Lives

“Here’s an idea: Why don’t we levy a healthy excise tax on bullets?
Maybe it wouldn’t work. But given that we are going to have to raise some taxes of some sort and this would raise revenue, it seems worth a try. As an added bonus, a higher price of ammunition shouldn’t be a serious obstacle to anyone hoping to use a firearm for home defense. The costs would be borne by habitual gun users rather than people trying to prepare for rare contingencies.”
The limits on imports, red tape, and garbage dealers have to mess with means you are already paying the government for guns and ammo. The governments manipulation of gun prices is already going on, and is a perfect definition of infringement.

Obamacare May Hike Your Pets Health Care Bills

“According to a rule published Friday by the Internal Revenue Service, some medical devices used in veterinary practices will be hit by Obamacares 2.3 percent device tax. Many of their manufacturers are expected to hike prices, meaning higher veterinary costs for the nations pet owners.”

That “lust for gun” phrase, right in the first sentence, rankled me also as wrong-headed right of the bat, and an indication of the total wrong-headedness to follow. You are right, the only “lust” is on their side and it’s a lust to confiscate guns. Decades ago, Sigmund Freud analyzed this
mental limitation , and called it “projection”. If there is anything you can count on from the Left, it’s the constant
projection where we get blamed for precisely what THEY are guilty of.
