Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Gun Owners of America today submitted testimony at the request of the Ranking Member of the Senate Constitution Subcommittee.
GOA took a strong stance against all the gun control legislation on the table and urged the Senate to put forth real solutions to school violence — like letting teachers and principals protect their students.
Also, GOA wants to thank all of you who participated in our online poll over the past week. With 20,897 votes cast so far, the poll results indicate that 96% of GOA’s membership OPPOSES “universal background checks” — and, hence, opposes the very guts of the gun legislation that is expected to move in the Senate.
Now, it’s time to talk strategy — that of the anti-gunners, and of ours, as well.
Within the next three weeks, we expect Senator Patrick Leahy’s Senate Judiciary Committee will move a national gun registry bill to the Senate floor.
The Judiciary Committee bill will probably not contain the Feinstein semi-auto gun ban, and it may or may not have a magazine ban which would render most of the nation’s guns unusable, at least for the foreseeable future.
But the Judiciary Committee bill will almost certainly ban all private sales of firearms — or any private exchange where the gun buyer does not first get permission from the FBI. And it’s this background check requirement that will inevitably set up a framework for a universal gun registry.
The Leahy bill will most certainly have a “gun trafficking” section that is based on other legislation (S. 54) that he’s already introduced. This would turn everyone who lives under repressive state gun laws into a federal “prohibited person,” as well. Hence, if your state requires a license to possess a gun, you would also become a federal prohibited person. Oh, and the Leahy bill would also send you to prison for 20 years for unknowingly selling a firearm to a marijuana user. So, the next time you’re thinking of selling a gun, all we can say is: “Are you felling lucky?”
Anyway, here’s Harry Reid’s strategy: He has at least eleven Democratic senators running for reelection in pro-gun states in 2014 — and they don’t want to SEEM anti-gun. The eleven Democratic senators in pro-gun states are: Mark Begich (Alaska), Mark Pryor (Arkansas), Mark Udall (Colorado), Mary Landrieu (Louisiana), Al Franken (Minnesota), Max Baucus (Montana), Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire), Tom Udall (New Mexico), Kay Hagan (North Carolina), Tim Johnson (South Dakota), and Mark Warner (Virginia).
All of these Democrats will vote for the national gun registry and gun licensure. And, in exchange, Reid will allow them to vote against the Feinstein gun ban, which will be the sacrificial lamb to the more important gun control which Democrats really want.

When they ended Prohibition they created thousands of federal revenue agents with nothing to do, so when the National Firearms Act of 1934 went into effect they added "firearms" to their oversight duties.
They learned their lesson that time. Never let the law get in the way of federal employees getting their paychecks.
My hope is that not one word makes it through. Enforce the laws as written.
I also support taking a look at all gun control laws and getting rid of those that amount to harassment of gun owners or which create nothing but busy work for the powers that be.

Let them play their games. In the end the citizenry has the final vote. Its call consent of the governed.

As consumers and 2nd Amendment advocates, we have to engage an economic boycott of all ammunition and firearms covering the entire State of NY; Citizens & Government while pulling an “Alinsky” Andrew Cuomo when executing the boycott. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules for Radicals)
The embargo ends when the current NY Government agrees all NY State Citizens have a 2nd Amendment Right to own any quantity and all types firearms, those made 400 years ago and those to be made in the future!

The firearms industry from top to bottom completely terminate sales of a firearms and ammunition to all of NY State, citizens to Government to include the Federal Government offices in NY State till the State of NY recognizes the US Constitution and its own State Constitution starting on 12 February 2013.

You will suffer till you elect representatives that respect the Constitutions. You made your bed, now go lie down in it! If you are a gun owner in NY you are a Serf, and it sucks to be you. If you are a believer

Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren will be running on the 2016 Democrat Presidential ticket. With record sales in other markets, there will be zero impact if all NY sales terminated tomorrow. If the NY State Government along with the SAFE act are not reigned in, this cancer will only spread. Time to fight the bully and make the bully understand in no uncertain terms, the 2nd Amendment is very important, has nothing to do with hunting and everything to do with citizens/sovereigns reigning in and eliminating out of control Government, foreign or Domestic.

Call every manufacturer of ammunition and firearms and tell them to stand up to Andrew Cuomo and the NY State Government by completely boycotting all sales to NY State till the SAFE Act, Assault weapons ban and any other restrictions to firearms ownership are removed. (just a small observation: As read, the citizens of NY State should be fully armed “the duty of every man” , not the NY State Government or any Employee that takes a pay check from TAX REVENUE. Right now, it is completely backwards! NY State should be more like Switzerland of 2012 and less like Nazi Germany of 1938.)

If a citizen and Militia member in NY cannot own it, can neither a NY State Government Agency nor

Apparently, there are a few more people in Emeryville area who have a shortage of brains & logic.
Sherwin Williams paint co. was there for YEARS.
They had been carved down from a wide array of very good products to just white, water based, latex paint. They had been hammered by the California AQMD—Air Quality Management Dept for years over everything they were doing.
They finally decided to end their long term relationship with Emeryville and move to N Nevada. They built a new computer controlled plant in Fernley, and then asked SOME of the 185 ++ UNION workers if they would like to relocate. Much shorter commute-clean air-new house for less than $200,000—and lots of other advantages. They were NOT going to pay union wages or have a union force, but they were willing to transfer some people, if they wanted to go.
Last I heard, almost all of the union members said no—and they lost the opportunity to transfer. Now, an almost new crew runs that plant and over 180 union people are unemployed in Emeryville. Sherwin Williams makes whatever they want in the new plant.
Emeryville has no taxes from Sherwin Williams operations any more.
Seems to me that some legislator should submit legislation to amend the constitution. Say something about over-riding the second amendment, and give the federal government the right to restrict not only fire arms and scary accessories, but also the responsibility to create national standards about gun purchase, ownership and use.
Could be any legislator. Just make a big deal about it. They maybe say that I don’t agree with it, but if we want to run roughshod over the 2nd amendment, let’s do it right.
And maybe the same thing with abortion. Use some of the language around slavery - not a person, etc. This way, just in case some future court wants to over turn Roe v Wade, they can have their little amendment protecting it.
Just try to get them passed...
