GE has new 90 watt Watt-Miser bulbs on sale now due to the 100 watt incandescent bulb ban. You can find them at Wal-Mart. They are rated at 1450 lumens. But if you don't mind paying more, GE also has 72-watt halogen bulbs (rated as "100-watt equivalent") which put out 1490 lumens, so with those you get slightly better brightness with less energy being used.

CRT’s double as a space heater, as well, so there’s a bonus.
The only thing that really happened with the bulb bans was it resulted in the last bulb manufacturers in the US shutting down. I haven’t purchased bulbs recently, but I’d have to guess they are made in China now.
>>>Replace our leaders, not our lightbulbs!>>>
Worth repeating.
I use halogen bulbs in several hard to reach fixtures in my apartment. They are bright and give off a whiter light. However the seem to give off way more heat. Great in the Winter months but it the Summer not so much.
I`ve always used 100`s under the house here and the
rental houses to keep the pipes from freezing.
Got a coupla 100`s in the chicken house, the hens
seem to like `em on a cold nite.

My local Family Dollar Store has plenty of 75 watt bulbs on sale. Now that I think about it they could be on close out.
The problem is that the long-life bulb are dimmer. The 20,000 hour bulb gives you 480 lumens at 60 watts. The 1,000-hour bulb gives you 825 lumens at 57 watts. In a 4-bulb ceiling fixture, you could put in 2 bulbs and get about the same light.
If that fixture runs 5 hours per day, the 2-bulb setup consumes 103 kWh/year, versus 206 for the 4-bulb. At 8 cents/kWh, that's 8 bucks/year savings. You will need to replace the two 1,000-hour bulbs twice, for a net cost of $2.04, leaving a net savings of $6/year for that fixture. Admittedly, that's not that big a savings.
The store bulbs claim they last for 2,000 hours. Which is 1.8 years at 3 hours per day.
This site says industrial grade is 5,000 hours;
Super life is 10,000 hours
Turbo life is 20,000 hours (18 years at 3 hours per day)

What no mercury in them how un-progressive them. /s
I bought cases of 60, 75 and 100w incandescents a year ago at a local job lot. I’m all set until the end of time.
Yup, had one in my 1979 F-150. They worked great. Like I said it only hits here for a week, two at the most here in the Mohawk Valley. Just have to make sure battery is in good shape.
